  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

Funny, Trump has no authority over Biden's pardons and passed bills. He can say anything, but he lacks legal standing to affect things other than executive orders.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago

But he gave a royal decree.

You're saying things that Trump doesn't care about. Hes just going to do it.

[–] fodor@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 days ago (4 children)

No. I'm saying reality does not care what he says unless he actually has power over it. And here he doesn't, so reality will keep on going just as it is.

He's the dictator of the world's most powerful country. There's few things he doesn't have power over.

...until the Supreme Court allows it

I mean, we got a American citizen that got accidently deported and still haven't returned home regardless what any judge have said.

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 days ago

Are you new. Reality is what anyone makes it and nobody says no to Trump.

As noted in CNN’s reporting of the Truth Social post, the legality of such a decision remains unclear.

Does it exist as anything other than a post on social media? Because those aren't legally binding.

That was always allowed, even for the non-autopen ones. In fact, I think lots of people are surprised it hasn't happened sooner.

The whole point of an EO is that it's supposed to be just a policy, not a law. The next government coming in can just cancel all these policies and institute new ones.

[–] KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 5 days ago

I think it comes down to what he means by order. Does he mean explicitly executive orders? Or does he mean “literally anything Biden ever signed with autopen”?

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

Did he declare it?

[–] _wizard@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

What remaining Biden EOs are worth a damn?

Wasting even more tax dollars in courts doing something blatantly illegal.

[–] Corvidae@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Biden issued a number of pardons via EO.

If you get pardoned but the pardon got repealed, is that a pardoff?
