Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.

Fun fact: they filmed the volcano scenes for LoTR on Mustafar at the same place they filmed Star Wars.

It's like poetry, it rhymes.

That wasn't a sound stage? Where is it?

On Mustafar, an outer ring planet. It took a bit to get the crew out but there's no denying it was worth the effort.

Shame that half the crew was killed by that one re-activated protocol droid.

For those not initiated, HK-47 was on Mustafar during the clone wars. The CIS reactivated him, the last mistake they made to say the least.

The Music of the Ainur is a pathway to many abilities which some deem to be… unnatural.

Force push him into the lava, it's what the script calls for

Better without the third panel imo.

Then Jar Jar swoops in, grabs the Ring, and tumbles into the lava because he's-a clumsy.

On one hand, the Empire could vapourize Middle Earth with a super laser. On the other hand, Palpatine was just like, a dude who was skilled at using the Force, whereas Sauron was some kind of demon/angel/demi-god. Not sure how it would go.

The cosmologies are difficult to compare because "power" in middle earth is just kinda ... power. Sauron doesn't need to have a "chain lightning lvl 10, 100.000 damage per second" ability. He can just ... exist, and all the evil (or just lesser willed) creatures around will just fully accept him as their leader and do whatever he says. It a cosmic force or aura that is never quantified in any way. Same with ganfalf. He does very little magic. His power is also mostly in his presence that compels the good guys to do good things.

would Palpatine desire the ring and therefore succumb to it or is he Palpatine bombadill?

Would a space armada capable of destroying planets be a threat to any maiar ?

would the force influence sauron?

To what extent would saurons abilities be present in a 1on1 combat scenario against the ol sithy. same question for big papa palps. ?

In my head, the fight scene would have few words and would be a contest of the power of their respective universes. In this way we see force lightning and magic both colliding but id expect that since both are weakened in their corpreal states, we wouldn't see grand hand to hand or rather light saber cutting through enchanted sword. If it came to that, palpy wins. but then there's the whole ring thing. I guess. if palpy succumbs to it, sauron wins.
