Liminal spaces are the subject of an Internet aesthetic portraying empty or abandoned places that appear eerie, forlorn, and often surreal. Liminal spaces are commonly places of transition (pertaining to the concept of liminality) or of nostalgic appeal.

Add some VHS filter to it and the text "you have nothing to lose but your chains", then you got a laborwave image.

This is excellent. It almost seems like an installation

I feel like there’s a story behind this picture. Maybe something like having a bit too much vodka the night before, which resulted in someone having the brilliant idea of decapitating a Lenin statue and bringing the head home. Apparently, it didn’t fit through the door, so they had to leave it in the stairway.

They did have a huge surplus of Lenin statues in the former Soviet sphere of influence after 1989. While some were aggregated in “Lenin yards” (apparently there’s a huge one in an industrial area in Lithuania) and others unceremoniously melted down, if someone were to souvenir the head of one such statue, it might not have been noticed.

I like to think the statue was already there and they built the apartments around it.

Leninal spaces?

This picture gives me some serious "Disco Elysium" vibes.
