Omgggg I was msging colleague about why I wasn't in the office today etc. and mentioned the rain, he said yeh I got soaked. Then I made lame your mum joke about her getting soaked last night ... As you do. (We have very childish banter, it fits) and he said lame joke my mum died earlier this year. I was so sure he was playing along because of our normal banter. I doubled down and said I doubted that because she wouldn't have been so wet if that was true....... Then radio silence. I asked one of our mutual friends if his mum had actually died this year and they confirmed she had. Holy fuck kill me ๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€๐Ÿ’€

Heads up

Something fucky is going on with Facebook marketplace on the Facebook side.

I put something up to sell and it received over 50 views while it was still being reviewed. Then I got 2 random Indians asking me about it and where I lived.

I'm accustomed to scams but this is coming from whoever Facebook contracts to that manages marketplace.

Same thing happened with a relative. Very odd how it gets views when being reviewed

Had a fast day yesterday (as in, no food, just water). Feeling good today! Gonna have left over brisket and sausages for dinner, obtained from the family gathering on Sunday.

I donโ€™t think I could go a full day with no food. I get hangry just skipping breakfast. I should try it after a big eating day.

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 8 points 4 months ago (2 children)

It's hard when first doing it, so I recommend doing it on a day you don't have to go to work. That way you can see how your body reacts.

It's not for everyone, because everyone's body's are different. I found this works for me after much trial and error with losing weight; I was a binge eater, eating all my feelings, my heaviest was 100kg~.

Now I don't binge eat, I don't have breakfast, I generally don't have lunch (I'm not strict though: if I feel hungry I'll eat), and I have pretty healthy dinners, and I still have chocolate and dessert. Now I hover between 60kg-65kg.

I do recommend, regardless of what your lifestyle is or your normal food/drink habits: cut out all soft drinks, and try to stop having sugar in tea or coffee. Just doing that, I dropped 10kgs. There is so much sugar and shit in soft drinks, it was impressive what cutting all that out did for me.

Took me about 5 years to nail IF.

Fainted a few times at first lol. Trick is not to faint where there are pointy / hard things.

Good it works for you, be careful not to get dizzy

[โ€“] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago

Iโ€™ve got some weight to lose. I was going well, then got slack and put it all back onโ€ฆ

Right, time to track my food intake to figure it out

Holy fuck, a motorcyclist just ate shit, went flying down Chesterville Road from the ugg place to the fucking intersection sideways, ran into a car, smashed the shit out of his bike - and people coming down South Road have seen him, stopped, braked and had other people go up their arses

There's like five cars involved and the motorbike and the fucking motorcyclist is drunk.

No one hurt but oh is that boy in trouble

Hospital staff do a great job but saying "I'll be back in a minute" is always a lie.

Package 1/3 has been delivered. New yoghurt cultures, with free samples of a couple of other varieties to try.

And package 2/3 arrived as I was typing, new mower blades so I can neatly chop my new grasses instead of mangling them.

Edit: And package 3/3 has also been delivered. Splitting up the postal service with lots of competing services has really increased efficiency. /s
The package was missing one file, which apparently was my fault as I don't appear to have actually ordered it. Oops. I've now done another order for the missing file, which fortunately I don't need straight away anyway. I do now have all the supplies I need to clean up the mower a bit. It has a bit of surface rust underneath due to being put away with wet grass not being cleaned out, so I am going to give it a good clean and a new coat of paint underneath. Then I'll be trialling a silicone spray that's supposed to prevent rust and help stop things sticking as much which will hopefully help clean it up easier in future. Plus sharp blades should help cut the grass instead of pulverise it to a fine paste which it looks like has been the situation recently.

Two of the nasturtium pots grew all of the seeds and are full of blooming flowers of the same colour. All of the seeds came up in another one but no flowers yet. Another pot has a single small plant with one flower of a different colour. There may be another single one that hasnโ€™t bloomed.

Weird distribution. I planted the seeds at random and the same or a similar number in each pot, and all at the same time?

Edit: Damn I should have put this in the gardening instance. Itโ€™s looking a little bare and Iโ€™m trying to keep other instances alive

After a perfect day yesterday I now have sideways rain and hail bouncing through the dog door! Hopefully the plants I put in the garden yesterday don't die from shock.

[โ€“] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago

It's my fault - I watered the garden this morning cos it was looking dry. May have overdone it.

[โ€“] Force_majeure112@lemmy.world 3 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Shit. It's going to pissing down when I wanna go into town

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Hopefully it will dump most of the rain out west and you won't have as much. Looking at the rain intensity on the radar it picked up intensity just to drop extra over Ballarat, it might calm down to normal showers by the time it gets closer to Melbourne.

[โ€“] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

It's about to smash down here in the west.

I bought a Matchbox Jeep for the kids yesterday and it turns out the surfboards on top are removable, and they come off very easily. Looks like a trip to Bunnings at lunch for that plastic superglue

Been having poor / broken sleep lately and I think it's from an increase in screen time, and at the wrong time (on the couch just before going to bed). My mind was really racing last night. I'm going to try no phone 30 mins before bed tonight and see how I go, and then increase it to one hour. Get back into my reading instead during that time.

[โ€“] Force_majeure112@lemmy.world 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Ok I'm home. Belly full of phรฒ, groceries and pharmacy goods obtained. Only got a little bit wet, worth it

had a great dream, dreamt I had a matte black lincoln convertible and was wearing 60s black boots and a little black dress, not too short

and then went on to dream a nasty woman at a restaurant dropped dead at the table, no one cared

Operation UnKOAS has resumed. I am tired and sore, won't do more than I have to.

Last assignment to do today!! Hopefully will get it done by tomorrow and then going to set some goals for next year on improving in my studies and having a less stressful time.

They really do be letting anyone into a masters degree! :D

last thing

I thought this looked cool, these are some really old shellac 78 size LPs. It's an Al Bowlly compilation of HMV recordings.
