Tf you mean money and driving? Where’s my god damned money?

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 8 points 1 week ago

Can't even afford to drive

The faster you get back to the true you, the happier you'll be for the rest of your life.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's any way around this. I believe it's a natural part of growing up. We strive to fit in as part of learning who we aren't. I believe the more social experiences you have during your formative years, and in your early twenties, the faster you can figure out who you aren't as a way to help discover who you are.

Life really is much easier when you’re not judged by a horde of jerks anymore.

[–] natecox@programming.dev 13 points 1 week ago (2 children)

41 here: when do the jerks go away?

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

When you reject their opinions

[–] TheColonel@reddthat.com 6 points 1 week ago

And/or separate yourself from them.

“Choose not to be harmed—and you won’t feel harmed. Don’t feel harmed—and you haven’t been.“ Marcus Aurelius

Basically if you let them live in your head, then they are "the jerks". Once you transcend their bullshit, you are free.

[–] natecox@programming.dev 1 points 1 week ago

Fun fact: Marcus Aurelius ruler of Rome during a time when as much as 30% of all Romans were slaves.

The only tradeoff is I kind of wish I had friends. I'm tired of being a fucking lone.

[–] corodius@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I always thought it was one or the other aswell, until I found my people. No judgement, no jerks, just an amazing friend group. you will find your people.

This is great. I turned 40 this year and for the past year or so I'd just been telling my oldest to embrace his "weird". He's always been an "old soul", and he's got such a unique personality, I don't want the world taking that from him.

Unfortunately he is getting picked on for all of it. Not wanting to eat meat. Absolutely loving our pet chickens (layers). Not believing in God (he has been getting so much shit from 3 other kids).

At least the teacher has his back.

[–] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 7 points 1 week ago

I was picked on a lot. Now I have a cudgel at the ready for those who try and step on anyone I mentor or my kids.

You're more patient than I would be in that situation.

I keep telling people in their twenties not to even entertain the idea of growing up. You get bored of it fast.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 9 points 1 week ago

I wish I had money...

I learned how to conform hard, I was bullied a lot in middle and high school, and I spent college and the years after doing my best to fit into my social circles so I wouldn’t be bullied again. I’m about to turn 30, and I’m so ready to drop all the masks I learned to wear.

[–] Sabata11792@ani.social 5 points 1 week ago

It's not that easy. Playing video games and watching anime in a dark room all day is rough on my hips and shoulders now. But at least I don't have to wear pants.

[–] Phegan@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I am over forty and I am weird as shit.

[–] P1k1e@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

One more year, so far transformation going smooth

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

@50 Why on earth should I work at some kind of jub at all?

Oh yeah, food and convenience :-/

[–] Korhaka@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago

Really? I was already unlearning the shit school tell you by the end of my 20s.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago
[–] sparkles@piefed.zip 1 points 1 week ago

Pretty accurate, towards my mid-thirties I started having money and caring less…I just think the second part is a bit of burnout as well.

[–] falseWhite@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Yes, yes, of course, by the time you're 40 you'll have money, house, multiple cars. Just gotta work harder.

Edit: /s
Lemmers don't get sarcasm :(

We get it, it just gets old.
