Scaring me with that title, god.

Article writers, I implore you, stop putting old peoples' ages in the middle of the title if they aren't dead.

I've seen the headline several times in the last few days, still hasn't lost its effect.

I know, like I’ve loved David Tennant and Eccleston is probably my favourite, but when you say Doctor Who, Tom Baker is the first image that comes in to my head. He might not be my favourite but he is my Doctor.

Yeah the doctors odd way of talking and thinking started with him, plus the scarf. But basically feel the same.

My thoughts exactly

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

He was my Doctor, though Tennant won me over eventually, so good in the role. Tom Baker though - I would always watch Dr Who before going out as a teenager and he was just amazing and the show so good even with the foam rubber special effects. Hair so different now but that smile is the same! He looks great for 91.

Weird how much he's grown to look like the 1st Doctor.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago

this was my exact thought when I looked at the picture. along with wow I have not seen him in a long time I think.

God dammit Tom. Why’d you have to go and get old on us?

Such a difference from the Curator, and that was, what? 13 years ago now?

Oh yeah he's shrunk.

I am actually a little suprised he was not knighted already. Him as the 4th Doctor is so iconic. I bet you could show him dressed in that outfit to any adult anywhere in the world and they would probably know what or who he is

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 2 points 1 day ago

He’s too… eccentric to be knighted. Hence the MBE.

[–] Lumidaub@feddit.org 6 points 2 days ago

In majority English-speaking countries maybe. Which, granted, should justify an MBE.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Does that make him the first or second doctor to be so honored?

Are we counting Peter Cushing, OBE?

[–] RegularJoe@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

John Hurt (the War Doctor) has a CBE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hurt

Also Wilf has an OBE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Cribbins

If we're counting Peter Cushing, then actors from the curse of the deadly death should count.

Rowan Atkinson has a CBE

Joanna Lumley DBE FRGS

Well researched.

"You have A WOMAN'S MBE!"

Props if anyone else gets that reference.
