Caveats:

  1. this is really badly written too long and out of date; maybe even a respost. but goddamned it pissed me right the fuck off.
  2. I'm not saying anything pro or con about Mamdani just about this melt down freakout inflammatory publications. Will it escalate?

Banner image is screenshot of Anti-Defamation League launches 'Mamdani Monitor' to check mayor-elect's administration for antisemitism (Nov 5 2025). The whole page is strongly communicative. It's worth dragging your fingers over.

"hostile to Jewish people" "surge in reports of anti-Jewish hatred" "Mamdani espouses views that are antisemitic" "fan Jew hatred" "fears".... People really like to hear about how scared they are (or should be) I guess.

Haven't been online too much for a few days; I don't suppose this is any news by now. I don't generally read NY Post. Is this normal for them? I just reached for the story and course traipsed into some thorny bush.

First, I must share this image and caption, which I have not interfered with any way. Editor gets ChatGPT to do their work for them?

From the sidebar, I clicked into Graceless sore winner Zohran Mamdani immediately drops his mask and declares war on NYC (also Nov 5) which is actually way worse. I don't want to copy/paste the whole article because it's overall incredible racist trash. the feeling communicated is of seething, virulent rage. But of course, they are too much a coward to claim it. There is no first person. Instead project their fool ideas into the millions of people around them.

I don't know what speech this person watch. Is there an AI enhanced version going around? The one I watched was very ok.. Not much more.

The tone is fanatical and frenzied. Facts are alluded to but never asserted, so the sympathetic reader can fill in the gaps with whatever shit is laying around in their mind. It's probably effective that way.

At the outset there is some flagrantly hypocritical stuff about people who have change country of residents. I don't know how anyone can survive writing this on stolen indigenous land, and in support of the stealing and much worse than rudeness in Palestine. I am surprised their mitochondria didn't fall out of their cells the way they shit talk an immigrant for being insufficiently humble and deferential towards their "hosts":

  • "no hint of grace or gratitude"
  • "sneering, triumphalist tone" "unbecoming for an immigrant"
  • "opponents were scorned or ignored"
  • "self-aggrandizing armor"
  • "offered only the back of his hand"

Three years ago, if I were reading this article with references to "jew", "mulsim", names etc redacted, I would have placed good money that it was some kind of anti Semite screed, either a blog or the kind of newspaper you can only subscribe to by meeting someone at a gun show.

Consider language like the below which is consistent with antisemitic tropes, with bit of anti-Muslim/orientalist sprinkled in.

  • "obsession with class and wealth"
  • "socialist agenda"
  • "declares war on NYC"
  • "Big Government man"
  • "power and ideological supremacy"
  • "newly crowned ruler"
  • "exposed as a fraud"
  • "mask dropped"
  • "fangs of contempt and bitter grievance."
  • "leaders fooled"
  • "our, sneering"
  • "battle cry coming from the interior of the Trojan Horse"
  • "chosen ones"
  • "masks"
  • "contempt"
  • "dark heart"
  • " flashed that toothy grin"
  • "as if to signal"
  • "fellow members of the brotherhood of the enlightened"
  • "flattered by his attention"
  • "fleeced and condemned"
  • "snookered"
  • "benighted ilk"
  • "Muslim mayor’s promises"
  • "Jew-hating"
  • "a puppet whose strings are pulled"
  • "cryptically"

(the above is not comprehensive; I only included the most terse allegations/defamation. Listing each one results in a document longer than the original!)

Not that I was expecting much by way of analysis but I am actually kind of shocked how purely emotional this is. But that's all they have. The facts that forced their way in, are able to speak through the trembling hands of the writer.

His dark heart came through loud and clear in his depiction of New York City as something of a modern slave state where a ruling class of landlords, bankers and even neighborhood merchants sucks the life out of everyone else.

Then it was back to all property owners, declaring that “We will hold bad landlords to account because the Donald Trumps of our city have grown far too comfortable taking advantage of their tenants.”

this is basically hot the article is closed out:

His father, Mahmood Mamdani, is a Columbia University professor who can be seen on a video from a 2022 conference arguing that Hitler got his idea for the Holocaust by studying how Abraham Lincoln and America dealt with native Americans.

“The US put Indians in reservations. … They herded American Indians into separate territories. For the Nazis, this was the inspiration. Hitler realized two things: One, that genocide was do-able, it is possible to do genocide. That’s what Hitler realized,” Mamdani’s father said.

What do they ADL expect a lot of average people to get from this other than "wow, I like Mamdani and agree with the things he says, I guess Jew hatred rules"? When the overwhelming majority of "antisemitic" incidents are just a guy people like saying and doing good things people agree with, eventually a lot of clueless people will just conclude subconsciously than antisemitism must be good.

Apparently when you hope your rent doesn't go up more next year, that's being an anti Semite. Or you want free childcare: Jew hatred.

Also in the second article, they are reminding people of antisemitic tropes, trying to apply them to Mamdani. But bringing all that stuff up to the forefront of people's minds will only serve to remind them of whatever antisemitism they have swirling around in there.

Contemplating this article from various POVs it makes everyone who reads it a little bit worse.

Damn, mayor for less than a week and already transitioning. Inspiring. 🥲

EDIT: also, lol that caption. "A swastika painted..." showing only the Zionazi coat of arms. 🧑‍🍳💋

If everyone that opposes Israel is antisemitic, than is everyone that opposes ISIS or whatever Islamophobic?

[–] LeninWeave@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago

I'm sure that 90%+ of white people who have any opinion at all on ISIS more detailed than "they seem bad" are probably islamophobes, TBH.

The comments on that article are so unimaginably delusional, but then what can one expect of people agreeing with the article's nonsense

I didn't even think of looking for comments. Shit maybe later.
