Unfortunately I think it's just time to call it quits with them. Not only because of this but it's just obviously over. The last movie got maybe a chuckle out of me, lahey is gone, and with bubbles being gone it's really not much anymore.

It's okay. We got 12 seasons, a few good movies, we had fun. It's over now.

It was done a few years ago.

Admittedly agreed. Season 12 was a good enough ending, last one with lahey, it was enjoyable but not the best, just a good enough ending. I think that's where I'll end it in my head

Does anyone know what the current charges actually are? I gave up after looking at several articles, but I did find this:

This is not the first accusation against Smith. In 2016, he was arrested in Los Angeles and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery after an alleged confrontation with a woman at a Hollywood hotel.

Witnesses claimed they heard a woman screaming, “you’re choking me,” and saw Smith pinning the woman up against a wall. Smith left and was later arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department.

Smith and the woman released a joint statement at the time denying the allegations and claiming they were friends who had an argument. The charges were dropped due to a lack of evidence.

“Lack of evidence” seems to be cop-speak for “we can’t be bothered”.

I think it's cop-speak for "none of the witnesses will talk to us".

Or he paid her off, while it's possible to pursue charges without victim cooperation, it's extremely difficult.

...Again, there's no doubt in my mind the guy is a piece of shit.

Unfortunately, because I have enjoyed the show. Can't say I kept up with the most recent seasons though.

I thought this was David Hockney.

Are these charges credible? If so that’s too bad.

nobody's going to get this much traction with sexual assault charges against someone like this unless it's got some credibility. It's ok to believe the accusor while also believing in innocent until proven guilty.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 days ago

Police decided they were credible enough to charge him.

He was also charged in LA in 2016 with domestic abuse but the charges were dropped by police due to insufficient evidence.

No idea why this is taking 8 years to resolve.

If you're hearing about someone taking an action that damages their career because of assault charges, they are credible.
