A place for optimism, relentless positivity, anti-doomerism, and snuggle sessions.

We're all in this together, and a better world is possible!

This is now also a space for organizing tips for our collective survival as we confront climate change and everything else. Still no doom-posting. We're here to work together, support each other, and boldly face the future.

Rules:

  1. Familiarize yourself with the site-wide Code of Conduct

  2. No doom, no gloom, only bloom. There's plenty of room for doomerism elsewhere. This community is solely for having a positive outlook on the future and spreading good vibes.

  3. Be kind to your fellow users. This also means no arguing in the comm. Arguments and negativity are not conducive to blooming. Constructive discussion is good. No interest-policing. Support your comrades in their joy!

  4. Always share good news. We can't exactly enforce this one, but if you have good news, please share it with us! Keeping happiness and positivity to yourself is the twelfth type of liberalism.

Hey, did you know that a judge permanently banned troops from Portland?. Sure, that might not stop them, but hey who knows.

I'm finally moved into my new place. First time living on my own so I got to set it up to suit my neurotype. Clean, minimal and virtually no clutter. It's kind of surprising but between this and being back on Lexapro, my whole mood is just all around better. The only stress right now is the day to day shit from work but I take that each day at a time.

Next paycheck I'm getting a bookshelf to display my physical copies of Lenin and Marx stuff I have.

We would be arch enemies if we were roommates lmao.

Congrats on getting your own place!

My ex is ADHD and it was a sensory nightmare for the last 15 years. I do have a clutter pile of paperwork from moving in and one of some clothes on my bedroom floor but that's it.

And thanks!

My partner and I are singing karaoke together at home sometimes now and it's a really fun little activity. Both practicing singing well is fun

  • This phone screening for a job out of Ohio went pretty well. Wages aren’t the best, but there could be a pipeline out of being a basement dweller.

  • I’m expecting to be able to bench 200 for reps this coming week, and got my squats up to 235. Maybe it would be worth it to go on a mini-bulk and get both up, so I could be repping 225? I want abs, but I also want strength.

  • This was kind of dumb and risky, but I messaged some local professors at a local college to ask about some different fields, what they’re actually like who succeeds in those fields, and the “what-ifs” like “what if I can’t measure up and never get a job?” or “What if I start disliking it?” this will give me a better sense on what I actually want to do with my life.

  • Giving myself a challenge for the rest of the month: No Neckbeard November. Basically I follow some rules and try to be more of a functioning adult to help me get my life back. I need to find a penalty besides mental wrist-slapping every time I break a rule.

I had a second round job interview that went super well last week, they brought me down in person and took me out to lunch and had me talk to the grad students. I have to talk to one last grad student who was out sick but I think I’ve got a really good shot.

Looks like I'm gonna be able to afford my meds this month without any extra shifts, so that's cool.

Well, it snow'd.

Did some food travelling today and made the most amazing Moroccan stew. It's incredible. The flavours are so full. It's been rainy and dark af for weeks here, this little warming dinner really warmed me and made me happy today.

Also put up some very colourful seasonal lights outside, because fuck Nordic aestethics, and they cheer me up so much every day.

Been going fully feral with my sleep schedule now that it's dark all the time. I stay up until 3am on non-workdays and am loving it in a "become ungovernable" kind of dark way. Been going to walks with my partner every night after 10pm, in the rain. There is nobody around and it's just glorious. Misty, rainy and dark, but glorious.

Work is ending for the season soon which means I get to go home and see my cat for the first time in 8 months! Very excited

on the personal front, completed a half marathon - my goal was to be under two hours, my final time was.... 2:00:23 lol. still, not bad.

more importantly after quite a bit of hustling I now have a part time job managing the "back of house" at an extremely busy food bank....been angling for meaningful local employment for a long time so that's a huge win for me. also just a great and wholesome place to spend time.

2:00:23 is close! Nice!
