If you've ever had long hair, and lived in a place with hard water, you would not be asking this question.

Enjoying the warmth mostly
That and it works wonders on my sore muscles
Same vibe:
People who go on beach vacation for a week, what are you doing there? I can undress, have a swim, get sand into my crotch and a sunburn on my shoulder in less than an hour. WHAT ARE YOU DOING
Usually staring blankly at the wall, hoping the shower will somehow rinse some grime off my brain too.
Shooting water from my fingertips like the awesome aqua wizard that I am
I thought I was the only one
Apparently there’s at least 3 of us.

It's not a fucking speedrun homie. This isn't shower any%. I'm usually listening to music and enjoying the hot water. Plus if it's a wash day, washing and conditioning long hair takes a while.
Hey you let my poor adhd brain ruminate in scalding hot peace
ITT: People with legitimate reasons for long showers.
Me over here: Just because I want to. It feels good. I'm paying the bill and I'll stay in it as long as I'd like. I think, I daydream, I warm up on cold mornings, I cool off after long hot days, I listen to music or sing along while a warm rain dances its way to the drain. I can, and often do, shower and dress in 10 minutes, but I'm an adult damnit and if have the time and the desire I'm gonna hang out and sway gently while the steam fills the shower.
Fifteen year olds: Masturbating. Lots of masturbating.
Its warm and I dissociated.
I can do it in 5 min but why? It’s relaxing. My brain can wander. It’s warm.
Sitting on the floor, letting the hot water pour over my head as sad piano music plays in the background
Win imaginary arguments. Make the world a better place. Solve the mystery of life. Achieve ascension, realize perfection demands non-existence, return to my imperfect self. Play with water. The usual.
Relax into a brief, stressless, fugue state.
Trying to work up the nerve to turn the hot water off and step out into the cold air
Warm water feel good
Avoiding my responsibilities.
Enjoying one of only two relaxing events in my waking hours (the other being taking a shit on work time)
Contemplating life
Plotting my revenge
Feeling something from the scorching hot water relaxing my muscles of my ever existing pain.
It's a nice break from life.
Getting away from all you people that question why I take long showers of course.
What do I do in there?
Usually cry thinking about repeating another day of hectic work only to come home and eat dinner and go to sleep and repeat it all over again. Forever. While my wages have less and less purchasing power.
It takes time to wash and condition long hair especially if even approaching recommended dwell times. Same thing with any medicated shampoo.
i mean, i'm just chillin. it's peaceful there.
People who spend less time in there: what are you doing outside the shower that takes so long?
Washing my hair, shaving my legs and armpits, emptying my menstrual cup (hey, you asked). Shit takes time.
Shampooing and conditioning my mid-back length hair, shaving my armpits and legs, exfoliating. I usually use 3 different skin cleansers on different parts of my body.
Some of us put in more effort than the bare minimum amount of hygiene because we want to look, smell, and feel good rather than simply “no longer nasty.”
Basking in the hot water
I'm dissasociating for a bit leave me alone. Also I have exceedingly long and thick curly hair, takes forever to go through my process.
What, is it a fucking race?
A couple minutes while the water heats up to undress and brush tangles outta my hair.
A couple minutes to rub in shampoo, massage into the scalp, and rinse.
A couple minutes to rub in conditioner, brush it through my hair, massage into the scalp, and rinse.
A couple minutes to scrub my body with soap and rinse.
A couple minutes to enjoy the warmth of the water and make sure everything is fully rinsed off.
A couple minutes to rinse stray hairs and soap suds off the shower walls.
A couple minutes to dry off, maybe 4 or 5 if I really wanna get my hair dry.
A couple minutes re-brushing the tangles outta my hair.
A couple minutes putting oil in my beard/hair, then coming/styling my beard/mustache.
A couple minutes brushing my teeth.
A couple minutes putting clothes on.
At minimum it's a 22-minute affair, but let's round up to 30 because it's the first thing in the morning and I'm not moving as fast as I could be yet. What's the problem with any of the stuff on that list? What am I doing that's too slow for the 10-minute showerers (whom I never question for taking 10 minute showers, btw)?
Its how some people meditate even if they aren't aware that's what they are doing.
Staring into the void, like I do everywhere else
