Someone finally got that bribe that the whole thing was about all along. Can't wait to learn what "causes autism" next.

[–] rizzothesmall@sh.itjust.works 80 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Nvidia. They got a lot of cash. Nvidia causes autism!

Don't I know it. They were setting 5G towers on fire here at the time.

[–] dubyakay@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

Did they use jet fuel to melt the steel beams?

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It'll be Chinese 5G that'll cause COVID. American 5G is non-COVID so new tariffs!

My understanding is that America doesn't actually have 5G telco equipment manufacturers

it's a weak point in the US tech lineup

which is one reason that there was such a major kerfuffle several years back over it. The US does not want China in its sensitive telco infrastructure. There was some point I remember where some US senator said that if Europe wasn't going to support Nokia or Ericsson

Europe does have some entrants -- and just let Huawei take the 5G market, that the US would need to buy one of them. There was some real concern from the US that Europe might just accept ceding the 5G provider market, which would make the US dependent on China.

This is probably what I remember. I could have sworn that it was a senator, but maybe there were multiple statements or it was actually AG Barr.

White House dismisses idea of U.S. buying Nokia, Ericsson to challenge Huawei

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President Mike Pence on Friday and the top White House economic adviser dismissed an unusual suggestion from U.S. Attorney General William Barr that the United States consider taking control of two major foreign rivals of China-based Huawei Technologies Co Ltd.

White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow added later on Friday that the United States was working closely with Nokia and Ericsson, saying the companies' equipment was essential to the buildout of 5G infrastructure. But he said the "U.S. government is not in the business of buying companies, whether they're domestic or foreign," adding that "there's nothing to prohibit American tech companies from acquiring" them.

"That's the plan the president has endorsed and will be carrying forward," Pence said, adding that the United States can expand 5G "by using the power of the free market and American companies."

In a remarkable statement underscoring how far the United States may be willing to go to counter Huawei, Barr on Thursday disclosed proposals "by the United States aligning itself with Nokia and/or Ericsson."

EDIT: IIRC, Cisco or some other US company that I can't remember made some 5G hardware, but they weren't on par with Nokia and Ericsson.

An argument could probably be made for the other way around too.

[–] WanderingThoughts@europe.pub 32 points 1 week ago

Either that, or the Tylenol lawyers walked in like the the legal equivalent of Mr. Universe casually tossing 100 pound of documents on his desk, causing RFK Jr. to immediately withdraw the claim and hide behind the curtains.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

Gave his friends time to buy the dip.

I'm happy sometimes. But only if I'm too drunk to remember our state government but sober enough to remember all the delicious barbecue and Tex Mex around me.

[–] SuiXi3D@fedia.io 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not until Abott and his ilk are removed.

Removal is too gentle for them, launched out of a cannon into the Gulf of Mexico seems more appropriate

I hear the cure for autism is powdered billionaire bones.

[–] AlphaOmega@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

It's actually the cure for a multitude of ailments...

[–] ms_lane@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Can I try billionaire broth without risk to my superpowers?

clown show continues

since when is RFK Jr and other members of the tyrants administration concerned about proof?
half of them are from fox 'we got sued again' lies

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

So, if you were smart enough to invest in Tylenol, you are going to make a lot of money on the rebound

[–] Ledivin@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

If this news was going to move the ticker, it already would have. That being said, I went all-in on Kenvue at $~16, so yes please 🙏

Yeah, their stock price has been in decline for years. This is a bending the knee thing. I wouldn't be surprised if Kenvue and Johnson and Johnson were rewarded for their fealty.

[–] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 2 points 1 week ago

Good job! I’m not much for gambling myself, but I would be very excited to hear that you made some money off of this very obvious market manipulation.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 14 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I guess Tylenol ponied up the bribe money.

[–] ms_lane@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

I think it's equally plausible RFK worked out they have to actually provide proof of the link between Paracetamol/Acetaminophen and Autism during discovery.

Obviously they can't, but the case did what it needed to by muddying the waters and can now be withdrawn.

If Kenvue doesn't sue back for libel, they probably got paid off.

[–] Tronn4@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Can we look at stock trades of rich peopleduring the timw he started talking this bull? Like did Tylenol maker shares go down and who bought into thw dip and now if the stock goes up who is selling?

TFW high priced business lawyers walk in and tell little worm eaten idiots what happens if they don't walk back their stupid claims.

[–] st3ph3n@midwest.social 10 points 1 week ago

So then, why'd you make all those bold claims? Dipshit.

[–] Corporal_Punishment@feddit.uk 9 points 1 week ago

"I made it up".

Its fucking ridiculous. In my job if I made some shit like that up I'd be sacked.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

We know brain worm.

[–] fittedsyllabi@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (2 children)

There’s no sufficient proof that RFK Jr. is normal.

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

There's plenty of proof he isn't, by his own admission.

[–] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 week ago

Now they have shutdown to distract from Epstein files.

[–] sartalon@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Wait. Worm brain man says no real proof of a connection?

Now I think there may be one.

Trump saying he can't run fir a third term and Kennedy saying Tylenol doesn't cause autism? Did they drink truth serum?

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Maybe they took some Tylenol eh

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago

seems convenient like a distraction news.

[–] GaryGhost@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

What about foreskins? I heard that getting it removed to young can cause autism.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

Ah, the pharma companies must be starting to lean on him and Trump.

[–] LadyButterfly@reddthat.com 3 points 1 week ago

No fucking shit

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

At least we now have proof that the worm is still alive.

[–] kami@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago
