Carly Hoy is among eight staff challenging an "inclusive" policy which allowed a female-only changing room at Darlington Memorial Hospital to be used by a biological male who identifies as a woman.

I'm not at all surprised to read something like this from British media, but it's still appalling to see a public broadcaster spreading hate and pseudoscience. Even the quotes around "inclusive".

biological male who identifies as a woman

I hate them so very much

Edit: as in I hate the bbc for using this language

The flagrant misgendering throughout the piece, the lack of any quote or attempt to get a statement from the trans person in question, the use of "biological male", the quotation marks around "inclusive", the published unsubstantiated rumors about a person's potential personal family planning choices with over the top medicalized languaged like "inseminate"... This piece is the most hateful thing I have read in a minute and even the BBC, that shithole of anti trans reporting should be fucking ashamed at how flagrant the transphobia is.

I'm really sorry i should have put content warnings in it, it's horrible language

Imagine being a nurse that's terrified of nudity. What a fucking donkey.

Yes, this seems extra bizarre for that point.

Gross bigotry and incompetence often go hand in hand, though.

The nurses have filed claims on the grounds of sexual harassment, discrimination, victimisation and breaches of the right to a private life, under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

So they must be filling the claim against themselves, right? Because that's literally describing their own behaviour? They even explained in detail how they're harassing someone who they admit hasn't actually done anything?

Swap the word trans for any other vulnerable group and it's obvious this is just straight bigotry. Imagine reading this headline about someone who was gay or someone who was black.

I mean, isn't the UK literally trying to introduce segregation of trans folks? I read somewhere that trans folks won't be able to use the toilets of their sex assigned at birth either. They solved the burly trans men in the women's bathroom "problem" 🙄

I often panic next to trans people (because why are they all so cute? flustering noises )

[–] DrivebyHaiku@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 weeks ago

Oh no they think we're cute! Nobody move! Give them space to recover!!!

Get fucked transphobes

[–] calliope@retrolemmy.com 24 points 2 weeks ago

Can you imagine being such a smug dork that you’re ok having your picture taken for proudly bullying someone at work? Some of them look so proud.

They remind me of the George Carlin bit about abortion.

Why is it that most of the people who are against abortion are people you wouldn't want to fuck in the first place?

Just replace “against abortion” with “anti-trans” and there you go.

the transphobes can share a changing room on the other end of the building, problem solved

Excellent idea!

I saw this woman in the meeting and she had a... A CROSS! On a necklace! Just out in the open! I almost fainted from the shock. I was hyperventilating because I knew that I wasn't safe. I was in panic mode.

Clearly people who follow those sorts of... Lifestyles shouldn't be included in our company meetings. It's just not safe for the rest of us.

I guess lesbian and black women are next to be kicked out because some bigots are scared of them in the women's toilet. But there's no law against female convicted sex offenders using the toilet for the safety of others, strange... almost as if it's not about supposed safety from "dangerous" people.
