Ok but for real. Is someone trying? Because let's fucking go tho. Because if enough people support it...

Any centralized attempt will be visited by the CIA. All of us need to try. It can start with small acts of resistance, emboldened only as you see others join in too.

No dumb bastard ever won a war by going out and dying for his country.

I mean, you kid, but in most democracies that's literally how it works. If the government can't pass something essential like a funding bill you get to elect a new government.

In parliamentary systems "Government" refers to the executive branch, Prime Minister and the Cabinet; in presidential systems such as the US, "Government" refers to the entire system, all 3 branches.

I am not from the US, so I am not affected. But the shutdown is STILL ongoing?

Yes, the positions are this:

Maga wants to fund exactly the levels as before, keeping all the stuff they jammed through in the beginning of the year without any discussion. They used special rules in the beginning of the year to not need 60 votes, so stripped out medical shit.

Democrats want the health insurance stuff back in, and because they actually have a say right now, are using it.

If I'm understanding correctly, where it's currently at is the GOP wants to extend the ACA subsidies for just one year, so that it won't impact people until right after the midterms, while the Dems want to actually extend the subsidies properly.

The most crazy is shit is there was motion to continue funding at the current budget for all continuing budget decisions, and the regressives still said no.

That's where this goes in 6 months. Someone has to pick up the slack... I'm guessing it'll be the states

[–] Floodedwomb@lemmy.world 11 points 5 months ago

Thats literally what the fascists are doing.

Get to know your neighbors. That's where dual power starts.

[–] bridgeenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

[–] urandom@lemmy.world 10 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Get to know them. Ask them how it’s going

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 4 points 5 months ago

One of my everyday coworkers is a MAGA. I have to keep reminding myself that he's still a coworker and we'll need him too.

[–] Star@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 5 months ago

Feed people first. That's the foundation of a good government. Anything else, and you're headed in the wrong direction out the gate.

[–] Hazor@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago

I think that's been their plan all along.

[–] fenrasulfr@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

Isn't that what the US president is aiming for?

[–] Draegur@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 months ago

Dual Power.
