Not knowing who Benny Johnson is, I genuinely was reading this as the debunking-Noem left wing post. It's amazing there is an audience who sees that and thinks a guy in a chicken costume justifies calling in the National Guard to wage war on our neighbors.
But then, the enemy is simultaneously too weak and an object of derision (chicken costume guy), and too strong and a reason to suspend laws (12 terrifying people in casual clothes, most of them apparently press).

Benny Johnson is a serious prolific MAGA influencer that has been invited out by the administration to cover Alligator Auschwitz in Florida. Benny's podcast was also why Jimmy Kimmel's show got suspended - a member of this Republican administration made a veiled threat about Kimmel on Benny's podcast and that is why Disney took the show down.
They don't experience human emotions such as humiliation or empathy.

Ignoring the lack of actual protesters, I have never before seen the phrase "stares down" to mean "Watches from adjacent building while surrounded by own private army".

A few of the YT channels doing political news have shown how much of this mess is created propaganda to use for clips for MAGA to show the "danger" and how manly and awesome ICE is "protecting" the country.

No idea. Anyways, I'm just going to the local animal shelter with my gang to 'stare down' some donkeys, and horses, and cats, and goats!! from the safety of being behind the railings, of course.
So she looked out a roof toward them. How is that starring them down. So she goes to a fenced and guarded facility surrounded by her goons and looks at the reporters and chicken guy from the roof and their reaction:

The sillier, the better. They were hoping for video clips of brave soldiers holding back hordes of scary villains. Videos of brutal, masked thugs beating citizens in funny costumes doesn't quite have the same effect.
