Tubular (a fork of Newpipe for playing Youtube videos on Android) has been a bit unreliable for me for the last few weeks, then for a few days it was dropping frames in videos but today its just stopped playing videos totally. I reinstalled it but that didn't help. Anyone else experiencing this?

In my experience tubular (since being a fork) was always a step behind newpie when YouTube implemented any changes that renders the old version unusable. It should be working after a few days. Might want to check their repo for the newest version.

Same here. I keep Tubular and Pipepipe installed alongside of NewPipe. Usually at least one will work if I update to latest releases.

The sidebar for this community may be helpful.

They at least put a "?" at the end

Watching on Firefox/Fennec + uBlock Origin has always worked for me, I know it isn't an "app" but its much less headache than those annoying "apps" thay breaks every 3 days.

If you need background play, download it with Seal and play using VLC.

Edit: As for sponsors, just tap on the right side of the screen to skip ahead. Usually you get used to the idea of how long it is, and skip, its always either 10 sec, 30 sec, or 60 sec. I suspect that those "apps" are eventually getting killed, so just get used to using a browser.

Newpipe works fine for me 90% of the time. What do the forks add to the experience?

Tubular adds Sponsorblock.
