I switched over to glass Tupperware and fixed my storage about two years ago. So far it's worked, I only have one lid with no partner.

Yeah, I'm pretty proud.

I have dyspraxia and drop everything. How breakable are they?

[–] Madzielle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The glass is pretty thick on the ones I have, some came from aldi, some came from Walmart. I've yet to have one break, I'm sure if they were dropped on concrete or tile they would break or crack. I'm not sure

[–] LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yep it's a no for me then, I'll break them within a week

I have Pyrex ones that refuse to shatter when dropped on a tiled floor. I too am pretty clumsy in the kitchen.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Dropped a few on linoleum flooring without ever breaking. One out of three or so drops on tile flooring resulted in one shattering. Dropped them a few inches in the sink while washing and clumsily whacked them against the edge of the counter with no damage.

So pretty durable, but also fairly heavy since they are pretty thick.

They'll only last a few days in my presence....

Same here, although I'm actually down a couple of lids because of splitting but cling wrap works well enough in a pinch.

Don't miss the completely random variance in sizes and shapes of the plastic tupperware.

[–] Madzielle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 months ago

Sometimes I just use a plate on top

None. All mine match and are neatly lined up.

mines the other way around. I have random bases with no lids.

I don't have as many now cause I just went through and donated 10-15 containers to family members that needed them.

n+1

Often the random ones become unrandom, but are replaced by even more random ones.

i have 1 full set of that clear rubbermaid stuff that lasts forever (5 buckets & lids) and the rest are all deli containers that share lid size.

get deli containers as your workhorse <3

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 months ago

none

but only because I purged the tup cupboard last week

[–] IcedRaktajino@startrek.website 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You mean just the lids without the matching bowl? Probably like 5 or 6. Why? No idea, but just can't seem to throw them away.

[–] LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I just threw one away. It's been in my cupboard for at least 4 years. I know it's hard but you can do it!

[–] IcedRaktajino@startrek.website 3 points 2 months ago

Your faith may be misplaced, but it is appreciated lol.

[–] Noodle07@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

None, if I dont bring back the Tupperware and the lid my mom, my grandma (rip) and my aunts dont refill them. Gotta keep them coming back
