His right wing slide began when what did was still called "The Trews" and that was like 10 years ago. He became an outright far right guy in like 2021.
I'm not very familiar with that show. I searched The Trews on youtube. One of the very last episodes, titled Episode 371, uploaded in 2016, has Russel Brand saying that socialism is good and quoting Karl Marx. In 2017, Russel Brand endorsed Jeremy Corbyn.
I don't know the specifics, I just remember people in left wing spaces calling him out as a right winger back during those days. My personal experience starts during Covid where he would go on right wing rants influenced by the covid conspiracy milieu.
There was a time when I believed he was still left wing and just trying to reach an audience who were full of brainworms so that they could be pulled left. Up until it became obvious it was a pivot after all the sexual allegations.
