The elites of the Democratic Party prefer a Republican victory over Mamdani.

Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer are doing incalculable damage to Democratic party unity by not enforcing their party's candidate for NYC mayor.

It doesn't even matter at this point if Mamdami loses -- any call by either "leader" for party unity will be met with "you didn't endorse Mamdami, why should we endorse your pick" by anyone to their left, forever.

They just need to step down.

This. And they've been saying the quiet parts out loud for a substantial period of time.

Their jobs aren't to win elections or support the mandate of their voters: their jobs are to keep the party pro-zionist and pro-billionaire. The problem? Democrats can't win elections as a pro-billionaire pro-zionist party.

Their jobs are to lose elections so the Democrats can keep fundraising. It's a feature, not a bug

Especially true for the two of them, who in addition to being New Yorkers are part of leadership, which would be great for unifying both sides of the party. I’m half surprised Chuck hasn’t endorsed Cuomo at this point in a ‘return to normalcy’ or some nonsense.

He probably did it just took him 30 minutes to spit it out so nobody clued in. /s

They are doing damage from your POV but maybe they are doing what is expected from them (keeping the status quo).

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

No status quo is being kept regardless of what these fossils do.

The winds of change are blowing through the country: hot, stinky change.

Hear some MAGA say that this guy can't bench 135lbs. How can he be a good leader? I wasn't really shocked, but why is that a factor with governoring? Fucking odd man.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 8 hours ago

Because we live in a clown country

[–] wildbus8979@sh.itjust.works 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And exactly how do you expect him to carry the weight of all of the Democratic Party's bullshit if he can't bench 135lbs?

[–] Canconda@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

We the people should really do something about those do nothing democrats... fuck if only every single election had some sort of mechanism for new candidates to throw their hat in the ring. That would just make things so much fucking easier.

"I do think this city is clamoring for something new and different," Heastie said. "He has a romantic view of what this city can be and should be. And sometimes people want to be romanced.”

It's more than romance. It's been proven time and again it costs taxpayers less. The issue is, it costs the extravagantly wealthy and their fantastically wealthy megacorporations more.

[–] Sunshine@piefed.ca 7 points 1 day ago

It’s always the corrupt politicians saying doing things better is “impossible”

[–] Canconda@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 day ago

Nice of the DNC to short list who should be primaried first.

[–] Bustedknuckles@lemmy.world 4 points 18 hours ago

Didn't Hochul's endorsement not influence his support at all? I feel like mamdani won't get any benefit from their endorsements, but also that elected Dems are going to take a hit for their silence

[–] einlander@lemmy.world 6 points 20 hours ago

The Democratic Party needs to adapt or perish.
