Who could have seen this coming? Wow, it’s like nobody even tried to warn them.

I’m so sorry this is happening, but my capacity for empathy has been strained to the breaking point – especially because it really seems like there’s nothing to be done now.

I hate to say ‘have the day you voted for’ when circumstances are this tragic, but…

While this is happening they are watching talking heads on tv eagerly discuss kidnapping and murdering liberals so my empathy burnt out long ago.

You get what you voted for, although I’m fairly certain votes didn’t actually matter much in this election when they were announcing its rigging loud and proud

This is such a stupid, evil way of thinking. ESPECIALLY about Mississippi. You idiots keep crowing about "Have the day you voted for" when the people who would be helped by this program mostly voted Blue.

Infant deaths are disproportionately Black and Black women supported Harris more than anyone.

If you're not human enough to have empathy for everyone, it's going to be incredibly difficult to beat fascism. But if you can't even have empathy for the people on your side, go grab your MAGA hat.

Trump got 60.89% of the votes in Mississippi.

Far less than I previously thought. Looked this up a couple of weeks ago, Mississippi is more blue than I thought.

I travel the state several times a year and it indeed a shithole. Coming in from Alabama you can tell you're across the line because the roads go to shit. Not just the rural highways, even the US highways are bad off.

It'd be blue without voter suppression of guess who.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Nah, not Mississippi. Commented before, always felt welcome and accepted traveling with my Filipino wife. Not last trip. Can't articulate it, can't point to specifics, but it was suddenly weird. Even my white ass could sense the racism leaking out.

We were in a thrift on the side of a country highway. I'm usually trying to drag her out, but this time she was in and out in a hurry, I shopped for some time. Guess she felt it.

so regular, sane people only need to remove one vote from the other side to bring the state into balance. nice

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago

Mississippi voted for this. 🤷‍♂️

Remember everyone, they prefer to be described as 'Pro-Life', ok?

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

Insisting on voting Republican will do that.

That isn't meant as some smarmy comment, but as a truthful statement.

Uh oh. Did white deaths finally outpace minority deaths?

Whoa now, don't be breaking out the medical terminology in a nonmedical forum! It makes people nervous!
