My one consolation over finding out about this whole fight between different groups of fascists (besides the fact that the fascists are fighting each other, that's always a net positive) is that I can refer to it as gang violence.

Kirk was killed in a turf war between his gang and a rival gang immediately after trying to downplay mass shootings by asking "with or without gang violence?"

Just when I thought it couldn't get any more ironic

If anyone's feeling pretty hopeless about finding this out for the first time, I recommend this documentary about the cartoon frog's creator suing Alex Jones and trying to take back his ownership over Pepe from the white power weirdos. It's very uplifting and the artist is a pretty likable guy.

[–] zr0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 28 points 6 days ago (8 children)

I instantly dislike the guy.

[–] Eq0@literature.cafe 30 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Probably had to do with the country copyright laws :/ I had personal videos blocked because they used music that in over country was free to use and in others wasn’t… or maybe he hates you in particular 🤷‍♀️

I KNOW RIGHT???

And people were like "oh the killer carved UWU what's this and Helldivers 2 memes on his bullets, that's common in Groyper circles"

Bro are you talking aboutttttt, what do you mean????
I just find it absurd how these niche-in-a-niche-in-a-niche communities develop and how seemingly random bits of internet culture turn into dogwhistles inside, it reaches a point where I'm just like dude, our lizard brains can't handle the internet. We just weren't wired to work like this, there's no way

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 50 points 6 days ago (6 children)

I really, truly, with all of my being, feel that we are reaching the end limits of what the human mind is currently able to contend with. We are so overstimulated it's insane. We literally need to evolve our physical bodies as a species to continue living as we are or we will literally die.

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 31 points 6 days ago (7 children)

Or maybe just not go on the internet so much?

I saw someone who described the murder as a shitpost and that scarily makes sense.

From what I'm gathering, it seems like one group is more "traditionally" American racism... And the other group is more like WW2 Nazi racists?

Either way, they're racists and not worth the oxygen they're consuming.

Can I just continue to have incredible distain for all racism? Because I'd hate to be branded as a sympathizer to either group. They both sound horrible.

The only surprising thing to me here is that racists hate eachother enough for this level of violence. I don't necessarily consider that a bad thing, I just thought they would... I dunno, bond over their mutual hatred of other races, rather than fight eachother over who is more racist.

... Not that I'm complaining. Having racists kill other racists makes it easier to fight against the groups that remain. Both groups of racists deserve to be put down. Not that I have the ability, capability, opportunity nor motivation to do that work myself..... I'm just not going to complain when one group kills the other, and the first group ends up in jail for life because of it. Honestly, that's an absolute win IMO.

[–] petrol_sniff_king@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Authoritarians, which are not unrelated to racism, if left alone, will start stripping rights from each other. In a spherical cow sense, they can't really bond with each other because they fundamentally hate other people, like as a concept. This is also sorta why their social media sites never take off.

I didn't even know about the Groypers till Charlie Kirk was killed by one.

I only knew Nick Fuentes as "That guy who tried to sue Antifa" and later "The Right Winger who disavowed Trump in 2024"

Apparently there's controversy about him not "really" being an Incel because he had a girlfriend in high school, and he believes anything outside of being celibate is gay, because being affectionate with a woman is unmanly.... and I'm like...

"This is too much even for me."

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 47 points 6 days ago (4 children)

I didn't even know about Charlie Kirk until Charlie Kirk was killed by a groyper. I knew there was some rightwing crank being mocked for having a tiny face on a huge head, but that was it. My main reaction after the shooting was "damn, that really is a tiny face".

Wait'll you hear about that time Fuentes accidentally streamed himself watching gay porn. Or his date with a catboy!

Imagine a Nazi. Now imagine someone who hates Nazis for not being even worse.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 10 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I think that's called a KillerNazi, then there MegaNazis, GigaNatzi and TeraNazis. At some point they'll come out with PetaNazis, but right now they're too expensive to be commercially available

So the one thing about fascism, especially in its late stages, is that it tends to eat itself alive. When they run out of enemies, they create enemies.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 42 points 5 days ago (1 children)

late stage

You are far more optimistic than I, my friend.

[–] abbiistabbii@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I mean the government isn't necessarily late stage but if the fascists are fighting over who's the biggest fascist that means shit's up.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 25 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Maybe, but authoritarian regimes do often purge their ranks, and it doesn't always mean anything significant is going down.

[–] TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today 27 points 5 days ago (1 children)

While I agree fascist tend to indulge in self harm via factionalism, I don't think this is really that, nor is it late stage. We're approaching the stage where the fascist shed their traditional conservative mask and start enforcing their real ideology over the traditional conservative party.

People forget that 4 years before the Nazi started their purge on greater German society during Kristallnacht they first purged and consolidated power in their own house during the night of the long knives.

Fuck, we invent some useless shit. I wonder what'll be around in 50 years? Tea cosy wars? A disdain for people with attached ear lobes? A religion that proclaims the colour yellow to be heresy?

[–] Funky_Beak@lemmy.sdf.org 27 points 6 days ago (10 children)

Careful what you say about yellow or they might come for you next.

You overestimate progress in the field of bigotry. In 50 years they will hate (in no particular order) people who are:

  • black
  • brown
  • jews
  • asians
  • gay (as umbrella term, come at me lesbians)
  • genderfreaks (saying it as a genderfreak)
  • overwheight
  • neurodivergent
  • religious minority
  • homeless

So, pretty much the same as 50 years ago

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 33 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Even though it is a well written, informative and comprehensive article, I still feel like I am losing braincells reading it. It is so incredibly stupid what some humans stoop to.

Targeting Charlie Kirk

What the fuck?! Seems pretty relevant to look into re: the past week but no let’s blame it on leftists

This isn't even getting to the part where Nick Fuentes gets red in the face arguing that he's definitely a real incel, and denying accusations that he secretly gets laid.

I did not learn what they were recently, because unfortunately I was raised on 4chan. Once you have a certain part of your brain plugged into that shithole website, certain bits of information will just make themselves available to you through the ether. You absorb information by osmosis (Jones). I wish I couldn't. Skin me alive.

It's like gaining eldritch knowledge. It unlocks certain aspects of reality unseen before now, at the cost of some of your sanity, driving you mad with understanding. And everyone around you thinks you've lost your mind

I have a feeling the trial is going to be a cringe fest of internet memes. Lawyers explaining to the jury what 4chan and pepe is. The trial Charlie Kirk deserves.

It’s about whether you hate Jewish people the right way or not. It has nothing to do with brown people as both groups equally hate them.

Kirk supports Israel and Fuentes and the groypers do not.

They're just losers who live online trying to outdo each other to hold the most extreme view points possible so they can stand out in their depressing little discord shitholes. It's such a depressing reality I can't even imagine it. No wonder they become mass shooters.
