Something that happened or was uncovered recently anywhere in the world. It doesn't have to have global implications. Just has to be informative in some way.

Damn, I didn't realize the Yen had gotten so weak. I was still using the "drop two zeroes" rule.

I still do. Really should travel there soon before the rates get better for them (worse for me)

This also essentially bans fixed-gear bikes (without brakes)

I believe these would be fine, as being able to stop the rear wheel via the chain is a kind of braking device.

Also, don’t most fixies have a small front brake anyways? I don’t see many fixed gears in Tokyo (probably due to the hills), but there was a ton of them back in canada where the front brake seemed common-ish.

Bikes in Japan are essentially one gear. They don't have diverse options for folks of different shapes and sizes, and terrains.

Recall, Japan is an archipelago, with numerous mountains, islands, and crammed obstacles. Mountain bikes should be the norm, but this fascist nation doesn't invest in bicycle infrastructure.

Fuck cars.

Fixie without brake is asking for trouble when riding in hilly place lol. You cannot brake with pedal like you do with brake while going downhill, you'll just loose the grip and the pedal just gonna smack your leg. I did it once, not a fun experience.

I did it for years without issue, there's a reason why we use footstraps or clipless pedals.

Additionally, 24 types of violations, including drunk cycling and obstructive riding, remain subject to so-called "red tickets," which carry criminal penalties.

What in the fuck
