8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

She wasn’t kicked out of the Navy, just removed from that command. As far as suits for wrongful discharge…all the folks kicked out under DADT show that the answer is a later administration can change the status of your discharge but you’ll likely never see any benefits
with so few navy doctors to begin with, her being very accomplished is only going to hurt the navy when they need doctors.

This is a terrible precedent, but I also think that this Medical Doctor will somehow land on her feet.
She’s still probably panicking.
If she’s fired, she could get discharged. If they force a dishonorable discharge on her, that’s a 20 year military pension that just went out the window. I’d be losing my shit if I lost a pension that I was already vested in.
Yep and the psychological impact will be devastating. The military becomes part of your identity, and she's devoted her life to it.
her resume is impressive, she wont have trouble getting a MD position in the private sector, which pays more anyways.
and now she doesn't have to work for the regime any longer, win/win

The upside to all of this right-wing censorship is that every time they do it they sell a bit of their claim to being subversive rebels pushing against a stodgy set of norms around speech and independence. Which, like, is a large part of what they've built their base on.
We're quickly getting back to that 90s era status quo of the right being whining church groups who don't want to see anyone gay on TV or hear anyone say things that they don't like politically. The result being that the left gets to look cool and subversive again, which swings the pendulum toward our side.
The biggest strategic mistake we ever made on the left was coming off as scolding moral purists. This is an opportunity to walk that back, and to reframe the push for our rights as rebellion. "I don't care what you think, I'm doing what I want" is a much stronger position than "let me tell you why what you say and do is immoral".
