I agree with this in Mexico coke is cheaper than water at an average 10 cents per liter. Though their Chinese EV tariff plan is going to negate any real health benefits since their local market doesn't produce EVs in enough volume.

What do Chinese EVs have to do with their health?

I don't know where or how are you buying your stuff but a 3L coca cola is between 40-50 pesos while a 20L purified water costs about 20, more from the big brands but it's still 17 more liters

I'm happy seeing a country actively trying to help it's citizens.

First they decreased poverty through a series of measures - https://apnews.com/article/poverty-mexico-president-andres-manuel-lopez-obrador-social-welfare-c7ec7f184ce8163e84fffa1b9f47aed8

Decreasing sugar intake will reduce obesity and diabetes.

I know Mexico still has major issues.

About time. Have you had a Jarritos? Shits like 50% sugar.

[–] zrst@lemmy.cif.su 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is it 50% sugar, or does a serving contain 50% the daily recommended value of sugar?

[–] RisingSwell@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago

I sell jarritos at work, all 3 flavours we have say approx 10% sugar (guava, mandarin and lime)

But if Mexico stops making Mexican Coke, where will I get decent Coke in America? 😩

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

Try Colombian Coke

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You can still buy them, you'll just pay more.

I can get sugar free Coke without importing it. The reason to import regular, sugar added Coke is because they use cane sugar; we use HFCS.

They can take my horchata and tamarindo from my cold dead hands.

High fructose corn syrup.... They are putting that on anything that goes into your mouth.

They are putting that on anything that goes into your mouth.

Arguably one of the least healthy drinks known to man, but unless they call corn-syrup some other fancy word I don’t think Rockstar energy drinks fall under this category?

Oh hey, more propaganda and Lemmy users swallowing it whole.
No wonder populists always use the leftist flag.

[–] palordrolap@fedia.io 3 points 18 hours ago

Actual populists rarely call themselves populists, you got that right at least. Mainly because a good chunk of people they pander to aren't bright enough to understand the term "populist".

But the ones I can think of are all firmly right wing. Trump. Orbán. Farage. And not one of them is, or would call themselves "leftist".

There was one guy back in the late 1930s who tried that and it didn't go well for him, and I suspect that makes them nervous.

But then, you probably think that guy actually was a socialist.

I don't know who drinks this shit. Just have some wine.
