So... the western liberals who openly protest against this are what, mince meat? Do you people even know what political terms mean anymore?

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (3 children)

There's a huge movement on Lemmy to split anything and anyone opposed to fascism. They'll find any wedge they can to do so.

Wonder where it's coming from.

It's the same pattern as the original r/the_donald. At first it's all artificial, but then you attract some true believers which can be used as cover.

Because leftists and liberals have inherently opposed ideologies that cannot agree on the basic way to oppose fascists. A core axom of most leftist thought is that fascism is the end stage of liberalism. It's the ideological equivalent of cows and chickens working together at a Chick-fil-A

This narrative stifles dissent from anyone who disagrees with you. The Democratic platform attempts to reconcile a large tent of competing views. So we should not assume that criticism of "our side" is evidence of ulterior motives. We all need to demand more when we see our government failing so spectacularly.

Now it's "The Democratic Platform"?

I thought it was liberals.

I just ask them: Show me the demolished deathcamp, then I can see if you really are antifa.

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

And that strawman is an excellent example of why you are not arguing in good faith.

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The strawman being that 🇺🇲s enjoy deathcamps?

[–] AntiRageBaitRanger@lemmy.cafe 1 points 3 days ago

FYI, this user is a rage bait troll. everything they say is intended to anger you. ignore them completely.

[–] I_Clean_Here@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

So no one is Antifa, got it.

Tankies hate nuance.

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 1 points 3 days ago

Protesting, or letting Chairman Trump construct more deathcamps?

How can you protest something that is being conducted in your own yards? Have you, no ability to reflect?

The post is about the hypocrisy of western governments who espouse values of liberty, justice, equality, human rights, etc. but act in contradiction to those values at every turn. Many liberals also profess to hold these values but repeatedly support politicians who use their tax dollars to harm/exploit marginalized communities around the globe.

Obviously this post isn't directed at the people who protest against these things. But the people who protested for Palestine (including Arab Americans) were blamed for losing the election, even though the data does not support this accusation.

[–] blarghly@lemmy.world -1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

A government? With hypocrisy? Lawd, my delicate sensibilities!

[–] balderdash9@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 days ago

My point exactly. This callousness exemplifies the American isolationist mindset. Most of us, whether democrat or republican, typically only care about how policy personally affects us. Which is why this country has to go through hell before any real change can happen.

it's ok i'm sure this bear is against the gazan jihad as well

It's always been that way though. The idea that liberalism is anything except the protection and promotion of capitalism is a fiction. It's always been a fiction. The idea that it ever had anything to do with equality or human rights is nonsense. From the earliest outset it was only about rights for the capitalist class. It's never been about rights for everybody.

All of the liberal revolutions involved voting rights for them. Not for the masses. It's always been rights and privileges for them, the bourgeoisie. For the capitalist class. From day one. Always a fiction it was more. People often call the American Revolution the first major liberal Revolution, which is debatable but still, and what did it do? Did those liberal revolutionaries ensure equality and freedom for all? Nope. Slavery is the huge black mark on the American Revolution. The giant gleaming badge of hypocrisy. When push comes to shove a liberal will abandon all else to preserve private property and capitalist profit. Every single time. That's how you know what they're really about.

post so edgy it cut itself. 🤣

[–] commiunism@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 days ago

Wait until they realize that during the early days of western liberalism, most countries that went liberal were actively taking part in atrocities that contradicted its many good words it liked to call itself, like slavery and indigenous genocide in US, continued violence and slavery in colonies and the entire Haiti thing with France, not to mention Britain and to a lesser extent Iberian countries, Belgium, etc...

It's nothing new, liberalism has always been about fellating yourself in moralism so to say, even if reality contradicts it.

[–] baggachipz@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 days ago

Dumb post. Liberal in the US is a social isssue. It has been known for decades that Israel owns military decisions and nothing can or ever will be done about it. At this point we are all going to concentration camps for even speaking against those posh twat Israelis.
