A reminder to anyone who might need it: people cosplaying as transgender do not represent or reflect actual transgender people.

A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

I hope some butch lesbian beats the living crap out of him. How disrespectful this is to the trans community.
Oh yeah this Guy is gonna get beat up. Watch him play the transphobic/hate crime card when it'll happen
Hopefully there will be another trans woman who can shut him up.
It seems that in this case the cosplying as a female is entirely unnecessary.
Since the law allows one to legally change their gender with just a simple declaration, requiring no medical exam, hormone therapy, or "proof" etc., then why would this person choose to wear all of the feminine attire and accessories when doing so is just extra unnecessary effort. They seem to be enjoying it and doing a pretty thorough job from the looks of it.
It's making me wonder if they've been in the closet their entire life and this situation gives them the perfect excuse to dress and behave the way they have always wanted to.
I seem to remember a guy on Instagram or TikTok being called out for the same thing. He got really into wearing make-up and female-associated dress ostensibly as a means to mock transgender folks, but then he kept doing it.
And doing it.
And doing it.
With different clothing each time. The lad must have had an entire wardrobe full of clothing, or he was borrowing heavily, with support, from whoever actually owned it. And he was having a great time.
Anyone remember that song "Things that make you go 'Hmm'"?
Hmmmm
I don't remember the song, but I remember Arsenio Hall having that as a recurring bit on his talk show.
What a tragedy. I can’t stand leopard print
Buckle up, I'm sure this thread will be full of reasonable and internally consistent opinions.
It is. You can condemn fake trans people. We'll decide who is the fake.
Well, I fear for their safety and mental health because trans people are treated awfully in prison. Often they're shunted into secure housing (solitary confinement, which is basically socially acceptable torture) for their entire sentence; sometimes it's to mess with them and sometimes it's truly the safest place in the facility, and I don't know which is worse.
This specific prison actually already has plenty of experience with trans and non-binary people. Even long before it was a bigger topic. They'll manage.
Excellent to hear that this specific instance is unlikely to cause harm. I know some countries, like Denmark, make things difficult for trans people despite their progressivism in other areas, so I wasn't sure.
This is in Germany, I don’t know if that makes a difference with how trans folks are treated in prison but other aspects of prison vary from country to country.
ah this makes much more sense. Prisoners are still humans in some countries
I for real thought this was a meme photo... Imagine my shock when it was a real photo of the convicted Nazi... I think Germany should add a clause that one cannot switch genders as long as one is a suspect... I wish him a good time, his penis will have its work cut out for it... 😂
I'm more interested in knowing if this leads to any difference in treatment and reception in the correctional facility. I don't care if they think they're making some kind of point going out in drag, it's functionally indistinguishable from being trans and an excellent point in favor of the law treating people equally, as well as gender being a construct.
I'm guessing being disingenuous is rather going to bite them in corrections, and hope she'll find a constructive way to approach themselves and society in corrections.
There should definitely be more privacy-preserving measures put in place, especially for the other inmates.
Like what?
Like separated shower stalls.
That prison is supposedly already experienced with dealing with trans or non-binary inmates.
That stache is a statement alright.
Wait weren't they forcing f trans prisoners to be moved from women's prisons regardless of Judges? wtf is this?
This is in Germany.
The data collection opt-out on Boredpanda is atrocious. Had to manually select no on ~10 items and the “save” button didn’t appear immediately.
dudes gonna come out with an asshole the size of a grapefruit after those butch lesbians are finished with him.
