Fuck it, bring in Sean Pertwee to play The Third Doctor and give the show to the Midsomer Murders people for a season set in the stranded on earth working for UNIT era in the 70s.

That much always seemed obvious. Sadly they forced a terrible ending by not giving Ncuti a heads up on their plans, which still seem to be in limbo. It's also clear whomever was in charge didn't tell Russel T Davies, since he clearly was writing assuming a third series was going to happen.

I don't think anyone would have had a problem with a year or so gap as long as the story could have continued.

That’s too bad. The show needs a long hiatus and a reboot.

I love how British TV shows will have three seasons across a decade....

It’s not just the UK. Severance and Silo were made by Apple TV and the second seasons took like 2-3 years. And Apple is massive. Shingeki no KyojinAttack on Titan outside of Japan — was practically a breakthrough in anime, and it took them four years to do the second season.

It does feel like the UK has pioneered the short season with the 2-3 year break though.

I'm not sure when Silo was in production, but don't forget about the writers strikes. Severance was definitely impacted, as were other recent productions.

They absolutely were impacted by the writers' strike, but at least for Silo, the source material is already done. I've read the books. I know what happens at the end of Silo. A lot of people do. Of course, they're adding a bunch of stuff, so everything I know is subject to change. But the end of season 2? That curve ball? I knew exactly where it was going. The part we didn't see? There is stuff from the end of the first book I was expecting us to get, but they cut us off to show the stuff from the second book, to whet our appetites. So I know how the next season is going to begin, because they are absolutely going to wrap up that story, because what comes next is so big. They aren't going to hold it off... I'd say at the latest, the end of the first episode.
