American companies are exporting less products and even importing products they produced elsewhere because of the boycotts. Thank you all.

I would also like to remind my fellow Canadians that if you see anybody from the states here treat them as a friend. It’s easy to slide in to anger, but that anger needs to be directed at the government, not the individuals choosing to come and visit us.

My American friends just stopped talking to me and my wife. They're very liberal people, so I guess they feel too embarrassed for their shit government or something. It stings a little because I was sorta expecting to talk about how we could help each other in these trying times. Oh well.

All this to say, that I agree with you. This situation between the two countries — and the sour experience I had with my friends — is not an excuse to be dicks to random Americans. Thanks for the reminder.

USian here - thanks for your nice reminder, and please to all of my neighbors up north: keep it up. Nothing is going to change down here until businesses (ie, the money) are hurt.

Last March I was on vacation in Ireland. We went multiple places. At least twice, when we noticed Canadians, we profusely apologized.

"So sorry, Canada, eh."

Dear god yes please let me in lol

Me too! Only, Canada is going to get screwed too with all those right wing crazies they have. Still probably better though.

Good reminder. Thanks.

I think this is really cool how this took off and keeps going. Grass roots movement that just brought us all together and literally can’t be stopped by any government (ours or foreign!). And a serious win across the board as we help our own economy. The money stays in the country, creates jobs and opportunities. I hope this is just the start!

Also, great way to discover new products, made in Canada and even from other countries. I am always amazed what countries we can get produce and other products from.

Fuck, I am American and I make it a point to buy only foreign made products. To those who voted for this moron because they wanted cheaper eggs and believed factory jobs would be coming back I hope they choke on their eggs.

My favorite is how he is talking about 100% tariff on semiconductor chips. There are only a few companies that can mass produce those fast processors very well. We have one of those here and they had to get immigrants from Asia to work all the positions because Americans do not have the skills to do it. What a great way to get citizens jobs! This administration is destroying everything on purpose.

I'm on a student budget, so I have to shop at Walmart, but I try and buy as many Canadian goods as possible. I also use Giant Tiger whenever possible. I buy my coffee from them, as they still carry Melitta, and the local Walmart stopped selling it, because people weren't buying the American coffee.

Just wait until I finish school and can afford better groceries. Same for family vacations. Canada.

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good. You're on a budget and doing what you can. Don't sweat it.

[–] Coolbeanschilly@lemmy.ca 1 points 14 hours ago

Agreed. It is by tiny steps that we ascend to the stars.

Canada first, America last!

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 days ago

Canadian first, anywhere else second. If the US is the only option do I really need it?

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 days ago

Sounds like a good start.

Anybody actually look at the link? It's written like blogspam but it uses some pretty insidious language like calling the Buy Canadian movement "nationalism", praising "Canadian economic nationalism" and equating it with patriotism.

[–] k0e3@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

Yeah with what looks like crummy AI images as the banner. It's an immediate turn off for me.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 days ago

equating it with patriotism

Weird. Where've I heard that word before?

true patriot love

That's it.
