Yes but I am reaching out to privacy agencies, I am going to try and push them that way. I am going to hatch that egg or shake an egg out of a chicken.

Once the government is off of X, or BlueSky the media will be forced to follow. Showing people other options is the way.

So today I wrote a bunch of emails to different agencies and my MLA’s office to try and get Saskatchewan politicians off of Twitter, BlueSky, and YouTube in place of Mastadon and PeerTube.

Today I sent emails off to my privacy agencies around my Province, and my MLA’s (Member of the Legislature Assembly) to get elected officials off of US social networks. Suggesting they move to things like Mastodon and PeerTube.

Welcome and thank you for coming from Reddit, I have not deleted my posts but I have been considering doing a copy and paste for them all saying something like I have moved to Lemmy.

I called up my TV provider in early 2025, when they did their whole let’s make a deal thing I just said that “I am not going to pay for US channels!” That was the fastest chicken challenge I had ever pulled with them to get out of paying more for TV. All I used it for was having the ability to occasionally watch news, if something major was happening and to watch the CFL, or maybe to sign in to a channel’s app to catch up on previous episodes of new TV shows. I now pay for CBC Gem and TSN during the CFL season, I would more than willing to pay for Global TV and CTV if they made more Canadian content rather than just airing US shows. The fact that Corus cannot do that is their problem.

The youtube channel talks about boycotting the US and some of the news. They are not a professional YouTuber and they admit it, but they opened a Reddit community, I have tried posting on it about moving to Lemmy and Mastodon instead of Reddit but. Yesterday I signed back into Reddit for the first time in a while, and posted about the alternative of Lemmy on a Canadian server. It was frustrating that the mod removed the post with the whole airport line.

I am just frustrated.

Oh awesome something on GaurdTheLeaf’s youtube video today got me to post on their Reddit page suggesting Mastodon and Lemmy, so when I saw this I suggested that Avi Lewis make the switch. Glad to see they already are on Mastodon.

I am so glad I am here in Canada, and have moved most of my data to Canadian and FOSS services. Then I use multiple levels of ad blocking.

I feel so old, it feels like only a few years ago that Centennial Auditorium became the TCUP not over 20!

And I hear you about the name changes “damn you capitalism!”

Prime Minister Mark Carney is dismissing a claim that he walked back the remarks he made in Davos last week during a conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday.

"To be absolutely clear, and I said this to the president, I meant what I said in Davos," Carney said Tuesday on his way into a meeting with his cabinet.

Asked directly if he walked his comments back, Carney said "no."

The Latest.

  • U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to impose 100 per cent tariffs on Canadian goods if the country "makes a deal with China."
  • Prime Minister Mark Carney has not taken questions about the threat, but posted an ad online this afternoon reiterating that Ottawa's response to economic threats will continue to be focusing on what it can control.
  • Ministers on Parliament Hill today acknowledged the threat is serious, but they said it only confirms Canada needs to stay the course with its strategy to move trade dependency away from the U.S.
  • Carney made a trade deal during a recent visit to China, calling the country "a reliable and predictable" trading partner. Then, in Davos, Switzerland, he also encouraged European leaders to work with the nation.
