The first populist leftist who runs on holding these people accountable in Nuremberg court style will win my vote and support.

Paying and hiring these people leaves a paper trail to follow. Spend the next 8 years after this, if there is an after this, making people pay what they owe to these immigrants they are wantonly abusing.

Paying and hiring these people leaves a paper trail to follow.

You really think that the groups willing to sign off this and are using other mob tactics won't use the mob tactic of... Destroying the documentation??

All they would have to do is hire a few "federal contractors" to to various parts of hiring payments and so on and just dissolve those companies and any evidence of who was involved.

Oh you have some bank statements from a former ICE officer? All their payments lead to a dead end no longer existing company where all information on ownership is somehow missing? Fancy that.

I think hoping for a paper trail is being optimistic when the President himself has been caught variously burning, flushing, and eating paper to hide evidence.

It's been a hot minute since paper trails were actually, y'know, paper

Sure, it's not like shell companies don't exist and obfuscate real ownership or anything.

Pass the payments through a few shell companies, bingo bango, good luck finding the source if one of those companies in the middle and their records disappear entirely.

Man you got down voted a few times, but you ain't wrong at all. I do think they'll do that, but no matter what, it's almost impossible to hide everything.

We're still finding and prosecuting former concentration camp guards to this day, and will until they're all gone, death is the only true escape.

Yeah, because they need to show the Mango Mussolini, Count Miller, and Fascism Barbie that they're hitting their crimes against humanity quotas.

Dehumanization is a tried and true tactic in enabling genocide. Once enough people no longer see "the enemy" as even human, all bets are off. That's when people who spent 40 years carefully gardening and never bothering anyone are suddenly going bananas and rat out their neighbors, and worse...

people who spent 40 years carefully gardening

To be fair, they were WAY overdue for a water break, maybe a snack and a nap .

I'm losing track with the avalanche of news about ICE. Did it happen again, or is this another story about the incident first reported on last month?

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I think the previous one was about the prisoners in cecot.

[–] TrojanRoomCoffeePot@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago

Ah, that makes the difference then. Thanks.

Migrants at Ice Concentration Camp in Miami made to kneel to eat ‘like dogs’, report alleges

[–] undefined@lemmy.hogru.ch 4 points 7 months ago (2 children)

Why does The Guardian always butcher acronyms? “Ice” looks like the word ice rather than ICE referring to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

[–] Catoblepas@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 7 months ago

In the UK they only capitalize the first letter of an acronym. You’ll also see Nasa, Potus, etc.

There is a long running joke on MetaFilter where anytime someone mentions The Guardian they spell it 'Grauniad' in reference to the piss poor editing it has had for like twenty years if not longer. It's a really old joke on MeFi at this point.

Once they’re snipered while waiting in line to eat, we’ll be twinsies with our best buds in the desert.
