Lol go cold turkey on toxicity. Yeah I am kinda a toxic person, so I switched to being more positive now that things get shitter
There's no one-size-fits-all answer. For me, I stay positive by regularly weight training, eating home-cooked meals, meditating when I feel overwhelmed, and reading Marxist-Leninist theory. The rest of my life, my hobbies, relationships, job, etc. all are ways I find purpose, meaning, subsistence, pleasure, etc, but the bedrock described previously helps me better carry out the latter.
Depends, are you having problems with your mental health?
If you're just pursuing new and exciting things, that's great! But I don't think you have to justify it through the lens of mental health
I definitely having issues with my mental health
- low quality sleep
- missing nutrition
- lack of sunlight
- lack of social interaction
- lack of cardiovascular exercise
- excessive sugar
- excessive inflammation
If any of these are a factor, they could be related to a mental health issue. are you doing all the foundational things? If not, Try that first!
My personal bias, is that nutrition, is the leading cause of modern maladies, including mood issues.
People can certainly use distractions, excitement, to focus on other things. But if alone time with your thoughts is scary, you really need to make sure you're hitting all of the basics
I did get a nice big cyst of my face that caused inflammation I assume a lot. I did exercise and cyst started shrinking I started feeling better.
I do see that list of things to take care of.
I also lost about 10 pounds from mostly dieting mostly.
Physical activity has helped
I don't have a lot to add other than, these are very trying times for ones mental health.
