A man was dragged from his car by enraged bystanders and shot after he plowed a vehicle into a crowd in Los Angeles, leaving seven people critically injured and at least 23 others hurt outside a nightclub early Saturday morning, police said.

Cameras in the area are still being canvassed, but the incident appears to have been intentional, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Two law enforcement sources familiar with the situation said the suspect was kicked out of the venue for being intoxicated and disruptive.

If you're asked the identify the shooter, remember: You don't have to.

Watch them imprison the shooter and let go the driver because car drivers could never do any wrong.

Car-centric culture really is fascinating, isn't it? In a sad, morbid kind of way

Watch them imprison the shooter and let go the driver because car drivers could never do any wrong.

False dichotomies aside, it's against the law to hurt people with a car. While intoxicated it's a bunch of felonies. And vigilante gun-clutchers shooting at people being restrained is no different from cops shooting at a guy locked in back of a cop car, except the latter has less collateral damage and better muzzle discipline.

But do they really? Squint

Police said they arrested the driver, Fernando Ramirez, 29, who was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently hospitalized and has not been booked into jail, the LAPD said. His condition was not immediately known.

Funny how I got a New York Times breaking news ™ alert when one Zionist got punched in the face in Colorado a few months ago, but complete radio silence from them about this massive terroirs attack.

[–] Kite@sh.itjust.works 29 points 1 week ago (2 children)

There is a crazy amount of news, both local and otherwise, that the media does not report on. I had no idea just how much until I started working with first responders. That gave me the opportunity to see and hear what actually goes on. There are way more shootings in most large towns and cities than its residents realize. More overdoses, more fires, a crazy number of larceny and breaking and entering calls. A LOT is kept quiet. A few years back, a guy got caught near here with a car trunk full of bombs. He only got caught because the idiot got the car repossessed for non-payment. Not one peep about it in the media.

And honestly that's a good thing. We don't need news hyping every minor crime like Fox News, trying to make you feel unsafe all the time.

Its not a perfect solution but it is a solution.

Alcohol is legal while pot isn't. And I can't have refills on my sons perscription, or fill it more than 3 days early because someone might "abuse" it. Not supporting an action, just pointing out the absurdity.

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Cannabis is perfectly legal in California and has been for some time.

Pot is entirely legal in CA. Stoners are some of the most cautious and calm drivers on the road anymore.

Not sure what your son takes but when it comes to people freaking out on alcohol, some prescriptions like Xanax have a tendency to make people act worse. I think it's because people get intoxicated quicker and their brains are like where the fuck am I so they have a tendency to freak out easier. Kind of like a bad trip I guess. I imagine Xanax, Meth, and Alcohol put your odds of something shitty happening at around 1 in 5.

But on the other hand, it's dumb that you should struggle to pick up medications. Most of our medical field needs to be re-assessed.

So a man injured several people in a mass attack with a deadly weapon, then bystanders rushed in to stop the man by using another deadly weapon. I’m sure the conservatives won’t have any problem with this, since this is exactly what they say should be done in that scenario.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 week ago

They only like 'other' people to be attached by deadly weapons. They will at best, be indifferent because they themselves weren't being attacked.

They didn't dig it when the Black Panthers started arming themselves.

Sgt. Travis Ward said the driver was shot after the collision, transported to the hospital and taken into surgery. For that reason, he said, police were unable to determine whether he was intoxicated.

Nah. They could have requested a warrant for a blood test while he was in the hospital if they wanted to.

[–] quinkin@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Doctors tend not to withdraw blood from people with gunshot wounds. Generally they put blood and other fluids into them.

[–] Hozerkiller@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 week ago

"Nurse, please wring out this blood soaked cloth for the police."

Police ask anyone with information about the shooter to get in touch.

I'm ready to come forward. It was Elon Musk.

Using a car as a weapon is disturbingly, horrifically romanticized in the minds of a certain subset of Americans.

Regardless of the driver being shot, I'm actually glad there's a headline of someone driving into a crowd getting pulled out of their car and getting their ass beat. Fuckwads like that need to know they're gonna get fucked up real bad if they try that shit.

That doesn't look like the car I was expecting.

[–] cubism_pitta@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

....... Try that shit in a small town?

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 week ago

It's quite remarkable that nobody died actually.

[–] Tire@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Cars are ridiculously dangerous. I don’t think we realize what huge weapons they are.
