It is speculated that ZeniMax Online Studios may have closed most of their locations, as they no longer have job openings in those locations.

I mean they only made one of the most successful MMOs to date, of course Microsoft is closing them

Okay, ChatGPT, program The Elder Scrolls 6. Add an online mode and micro transactions.

Oh come on, it's Microsoft. They're forced to use copilot

Okay, CoPilot, log in to ChatGPT, use it to program The Elder Scrolls 6. Add an online mode and micro transactions.

Sure! Here's an MMO without many series-defining features that you can add in iteratively throughout the game's lifespan to someday become a complete and compelling product! Then, you can shut it down and do it again!

I'm simultaneously both excited and terrified to see the only logical conclusion to all this fuckery: awful vibe coded games that no-one wants and all of the senior talent drained from the industry forever.

Copilot is ChatGPT, only using worse default system prompts. Microsoft invests heavily into OpenAI.

I stopped playing ESO after U35 hit. It is unfortunate to see it go, but the game was on life support for a long time. Perhaps this will result in ex-devs creating their own AA studios and releasing games they actually enjoyed making.
