They haven't donated to political parties, have they? That would have been big news I'm pretty sure I would have seen.

I overall like it for entertainment. As far as I can tell, through the years of "scandals", Linus doesn't seem like a bad person. Just a person who means well but makes human mistakes sometimes.

I completely get it, but also keep in mind that tinnitus sucks.

I don't know the exact scenario being referenced above, but personally I don't believe in the death penalty for anything. I truly believe people can change and be reformed. Not that everyone will, but everyone can be. Death robs of any opportunity or hope.

I also understand there is a lot of nuance around this conversation. I don't judge anyone for believing differently, as long as its for good reasons.

I strongly feel the only reasons Linux is actually gaining traction right now are

A) proton/wine getting good enough interfaces for regular people to start using them (steam, heroic, hopefully bottles someday gets easier to use)

B) KDE making strides with their desktop envoronment.

C) flatpaks being easy to use and fairly reliable once someone learns to prioritize them

All still have a LOT of work to do with UX, but they are close enough to good that its less of a hurdle for new people to pick them up.

Hmmm maybe I should post more. Or we can make our own list.

They are being downvoted because not only is this not a proper sponsorship - they grabbed a partener program link which AFAIK basically anyone can do. Proton is also not right leaning nor do they have a history of politically supporting such political figures. Yes, the CEO had that one tweet, no that one tweet does not make them right leaning. Anyone who thinks so is just reactionary, baiting, or being mislead.

Edit: proton appears to be working on an official response according to their reddit account. In interviews they have confirmed that spyro can swap between walking and free flight at will.
