I don't know the exact scenario being referenced above, but personally I don't believe in the death penalty for anything. I truly believe people can change and be reformed. Not that everyone will, but everyone can be. Death robs of any opportunity or hope.

I also understand there is a lot of nuance around this conversation. I don't judge anyone for believing differently, as long as its for good reasons.

I strongly feel the only reasons Linux is actually gaining traction right now are

A) proton/wine getting good enough interfaces for regular people to start using them (steam, heroic, hopefully bottles someday gets easier to use)

B) KDE making strides with their desktop envoronment.

C) flatpaks being easy to use and fairly reliable once someone learns to prioritize them

All still have a LOT of work to do with UX, but they are close enough to good that its less of a hurdle for new people to pick them up.

Hmmm maybe I should post more. Or we can make our own list.

Any chance you can go into detail as to why this is a game changer for you?

They are being downvoted because not only is this not a proper sponsorship - they grabbed a partener program link which AFAIK basically anyone can do. Proton is also not right leaning nor do they have a history of politically supporting such political figures. Yes, the CEO had that one tweet, no that one tweet does not make them right leaning. Anyone who thinks so is just reactionary, baiting, or being mislead.

Edit: proton appears to be working on an official response according to their reddit account. Edit2: proton response here: https://i.redd.it/6eac1cs9n26h1.jpeg Tl;Dr: they do have controls to keep them from being associated with political entities but those controls failed and they are working on it, while making sure to cut ties with this individual.

I mean... What's the price? If it has "lukewarm" performance but only has a "lukewarm" price, then its competitive.

If you go into your match history or any counterstrike community you will see lots and lots of banned CS2 players. It seems the latest ban wave has some sort of mistake and lots of innocent players are involved. I am personally not banned but a few of my friends who were definitely not cheating were banned.

It also seems that playing a game right now has decent odds of banning you mid-game. There's lots of footage of this happening during mundane gunfights.

With the scale of this, there's no way they don't reverse most, if not all, bans in this wave. There's simply no way that this many players were actually cheating.

Just putting something here in case someone who avoids other social media wants to know what's going on.
