RT is a Russian state sponsored and controlled media outlet. Its 100% propaganda and useless to determine actual truth about what is going on.

It doesn't have any more propaganda than any of the big Western media.

Color me surprised that a post like this is heavily downvoted on ml.

When ya'll get defederated, this kind of shit will be why.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 day ago

I don't get it. Why do you think this is heavily downvoted?

People will defederate from Lemmy.ml because someone posted a news article going over oreshnik? I think if people want to genuinely understand the millitary balance of power in the modern era, a firm understanding of missile production and technology is a key aspect of that. Oreshnik, as the article suggests, blurs the line between ballistic missiles and tactical (not strategic) nukes, without going nuclear, which is why it's significant. Other countries with competent missile programs likely have similar technologies, but we haven't really seen many revealed to the public like oreshnik has been.

I thought you people constantly yap about not liking echo chambers. But when you have rare opportunity to read some of the news from other side, which is banned in your oh so free speech countries, you are shitting and crying yourself (btw OP have some empty accounts following him and downvoting everything). Turns out, you do love echo chambers, but only those that don't expose you to uncomfortable truth that opinions conflicting with yours do exist.

Probably down voted because there is a pattern of Russian state media (look at source) and officials overstating capabilities for domestic and international audiences, sometimes masking technical failures or limited deployment with grandiose announcements.

This can be seen more definively in Ukraine. Had Russia actually had the weapons and technology they claimed then the Ukraine war would have actually been three days and not on going 2+ years later.
