That shit is just speed running psychosis what the fuck

Using the internet alone makes me super uncomfortable while I’m tripping

[–] cinnaa42@hexbear.net 35 points 3 days ago (1 children)

this is such an incredibly boring way to do drugs smh

[–] AnarchoAnarchist@hexbear.net 20 points 3 days ago

Trust MIT to find the absolute lamest way to indulge in psychedelics

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 40 points 3 days ago (5 children)

we should really start some tankie third places

[–] thethirdgracchi@hexbear.net 46 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Buddy, you're posting in the tankie third place right now

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 37 points 3 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

i mean a physical third place.

student orgs did that well when i was in college, i dont see much of it anymore.

[–] thethirdgracchi@hexbear.net 21 points 3 days ago

Yeah I was mostly bullshitting, I too wish we had actual third places in reality. Love you folks but nothing beats hanging out in person.

[–] BanSwitch2Buyers@hexbear.net 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Some dipshit will try to turn our communist third space into a co-op micro-brewery.

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 27 points 3 days ago

We used to have coffee shops, we used to be a real movement

[–] tocopherol@hexbear.net 21 points 3 days ago

A few cities I've been in have leftist bookstores/libraries, they are usually more anarchist than 'tankie' technically but welcoming of real leftists in general.

[–] CommunistBear@hexbear.net 12 points 3 days ago (2 children)

If there were enough of us in close enough proximity that could be possible. But it generally seems like everyone is too spread out. Plus, the only thing I know how to do is make liquor and run a bar, both of which seem to be dying out among the younger generations

NGL drunken struggle sessions sound both horrible and hilarious.

[–] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Not drunk but I definitely did spend quite a few nights out at Pine Ridge smoking blunts with comrades and debating about China with Chip, Sungmanitu, and two Maoist Third Worldist comrades in CLN.

Two MLs, two Maoists, and an anarchist walk into a bar. It definitely was the closest thing I have ever had to Hexbear irl.

[–] MizuTama@hexbear.net 6 points 3 days ago

See, you were missing the libs

When I get enough money I will start a maoist compound in someplace where land is cheap. What are the odds it goes poorly again?

Even having said that I am still thinking like damn, what if i did though.

[–] MaxOS@hexbear.net 38 points 3 days ago

It's like direct-to-consumer MKUltra

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 30 points 3 days ago (6 children)

I just don't get how people like Elon can achieve ego death twice a day and still be the world's shittiest person. In my experience, psychedelics make most people better

[–] Arahnya@hexbear.net 30 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I used to hang out in those terence mckenna spaces. Tripping balls doesn't make you a good person, you make yourself a better person by putting in the effort. Unfortunately not everyone comes back equipped with the realization that they need to make life better for yourself and everyone else. In fact it could even have the effect of deeper entrenchment in whatever shit you happen to find yourself in.

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 9 points 3 days ago

I still love Terrance McKenna. I know he's a bit of a weirdo, but he seemed like a pretty good leftist and he did preach doing the work and integrating the experience into your life.

Just like anything, too many people have the wrong takeaway, or are manipulative creeps

[–] LanyrdSkynrd@hexbear.net 20 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I used to go to a lot of psychedelic parties and there were a lot of creeps and manipulators in the scene. They were always the guys putting on this front of "peace and love" and the belief in the healing power of psychedelics.

Mostly sex pests, but also a couple wannabe cult leader types.

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 11 points 3 days ago

Unfortunately that seems to be pretty common. its a big reason I stopped going to festivals and concerts. There's a really creepy vibe at those kinds of events these days. I'm sure a big part of the problem is I like boomer bands

[–] Monstertruckenjoyer@hexbear.net 16 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You can only bring out what you put in. Sociopath goes in sociopath who thinks he's been enlightened comes out.

It's why cults are like that

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 9 points 3 days ago

I've met enough people at festivals that sour the idea of it all for me at times. I'm more into doing it at home alone.

[–] Jabril@hexbear.net 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Ketamine isnt known for that in the way that something like DMT is. Elon is just doing ketamine to relax and zone out, he's not eating peyote with the NAC

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He must only be micro dosing the shrooms then. Those things have tore my head off on a number of occasions

[–] Jabril@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Is musk taking shrooms too?

If so, yeah he ain't taking much

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago

Nobody is sure what his whole stack is, but he's on a bunch of pills (presumed to be ecstasy tablets) the ketamine and shrooms

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He is empty inside like most people in his class

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago

That's true. For someone like him, ego death is just death.

[–] Lussy@hexbear.net 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

I’ve done psychadelics like 10 tines in my life and I’ve had a good trip like 1.5 times (on shrooms). I think I’m just too clinically depressed for acid and most psychadelics

[–] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 9 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I think it is framing. All the times I have done them people have described them as bad trips to me. However, I have only positive feelings about the adventures. Like, the time I thought the thermostat was a giant spider was chill cause I realized that she was just vibin' over there minding her business and I didn't need to stress.

Everyone's brain chemistry is different. Set and setting have a lot to do with it and so does your mental state going into it.

It's also just one of those things that aren't for everyone unfortunately. I do hope that eventually we start figuring out how to use them as a normal medicine because I feel like a lot of people can benefit from psychedelic drugs. Self medicating is dangerous and a total crap shoot

[–] Lussy@hexbear.net 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

The first time I tried psychadelics (shrooms) was literally the only time I had a good trip, and it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

I’ve been chasing that high ever since and instead, I’ve gotten bad trips time after time to the point I can say I flat out do not like LSD and cannot even imagine how people can withstand an 8 hour battering ram on your brain.

Concentrated depression and rumination for 8 hours, it fucking sucks for me.

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 6 points 3 days ago

Imo shrooms go deeper but are easier to control the dose. LSD is not something you can identify on sight, so you never truly know what you're getting until you start tripping. I'm on the wrong side of 35 to have a bunch of time for 12 hours down the rabbit hole. A gentle mushroom dose is a fantastic way for me to spend a day off cleaning and de-stressing

[–] FnordPrefect@hexbear.net 31 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Holy shit...I think I can fly. @grok Can people fly?

Grok: Of course! Nearly 3 million people fly every day in the US alone!

God damn.

I know this is reactionary of me but people are fucking stupid.

[–] BoxedFenders@hexbear.net 23 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

And these are the people who grew up in a pre-ChatGPT world. Just imagine what the next generation that are reliant on AI from childhood will be like.

[–] pumpchilienthusiast@hexbear.net 16 points 3 days ago

no I won't you can't make me

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 25 points 3 days ago

I don't believe in the soul, but yeah

Atomization is a hell of a drug

[–] heartheartbreak@hexbear.net 20 points 3 days ago

Theres no spiritual satan imbued in AI. The spiritual satan is in capitalist relations of production galaxy-brain

[–] originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com 19 points 3 days ago (1 children)

human history is littered with death by ignorance, this is no exception.

im reminded of when we had people using xrays for everyday nonsense like shoe size. or soo many mis-uses of lead.

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 6 points 3 days ago

But this time it's good! It's the shiny new technology which means it is vital to society! Just like radium watches!

[–] BanSwitch2Buyers@hexbear.net 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Are anybof these people actually alone-alone? 'cause the other ChatGPT freak-outs seem to be from married dudes, doctors, well-off shit tech heads, etc.. Is this happening to the poorest parts of the country and like most reporting they just don't hear nor care about it? Or is this a bourgeois thing? I get people being lonely but it seems like these people are mostly only lonely in the sense that the other people close to them aren't their slaves.

[–] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 2 points 2 days ago

If you're completely alone, who's going to notice that you've started worshiping the robot?

[–] NPa@hexbear.net 5 points 2 days ago

brb training the model to send screamers to anyone who uses AI as tripsitters

[–] CocteauChameleons@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Whenever I tripped alone I'd just put on music I liked or an indie movie or Star Trek or Id go into the forest and cry or Id skate or play some music. I mainly tripped at night so I wouldnt encounter people. If I was in a bad mood I'd drink a couple beers so I could sleep it off.

[–] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 7 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I know It is lib but I am normally pro AI. This is too far for even me.
