Final Fantasy Tactics is pretty much all I have been playing on mine. I have been trying to get other emulators running so I can play the FFT from PSP and GBA, but so far no luck.

I did get a Bluetooth keyboard with track pad today, hopefully that makes installing stuff in desktop easier.

I have been playing Bitcraft on my MacBook, I am hoping with the keyboard I can play it on the Steam deck too.

Installing Retro deck was super straight forward for me and "just worked" with 90% of my games

[–] nokturne213@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

Not sure if I tried that one, I have been playing via retro arch.

[–] GeekyOnion@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Bitcraft looks really interesting. I'm tempted to give it a whirl on my MacBook, too.

The controls are point and click, no wasd or auto run yet. Other than that I am enjoying it. Keep in mind it is a crafting game with a little bit of combat.

[–] nokturne213@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

They added experimental WASD controls yesterday.

Spiritfarer. Got it on sale for $5 a while ago and it's surprisingly touching and addictive. I even cried at one point.

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I need to play it still, I have it in my library from some bundle, but there's always been something more pressing that I wanted to play. It doesn't look like the kind of game I normally would enjoy, but I've heard so many good things about it that I know I need to try it sooner or later.

[–] Kit@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 year ago

I went into it totally blind and really fell in love. I definitely recommend trying it out when you want to feel some feels.

I’ve been abducted By Frostpunk (on the deck), but now I’m finally getting out of it and enjoying some Wolfenstein (on ps5).

[–] Okus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How are you feeling with frostpunk? I felt like everything was too small and the trackpad controls were not very comfortable compared to my imagined use of a mouse?

Well to be honest I only played with the Deck hooked to an external screen.

I forgot to mention it😇

I just finished Lies of P including the DLC, runs beautifully on the Steam Deck and it's such a banger!

[–] GeekyOnion@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm still waiting for it to be delivered, but I'm not sure if I want to break it in with No Man's Sky, or start installing EmuDeck. Honestly, I want to do "all the things" as soon as I get it into my hands, given the way people gush about it.

Be sure to take a moment to reboot into desktop, and search the built in Linux app store for free games. There's some absolute gems.

Edit: And after installing, right click the game on the desktop or menu, and choose "Add To Steam", to make it show up in the usual Steam interface.

[–] GeekyOnion@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Thanks for the tip! Didn’t even consider those games, despite having been a fervent Linux user at times.

Spelunky 2 with all kinds of mods

[–] mrfriki@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Beyond Good and Evil (the original, not the remastered version) struggling with the camera and the FOV but enjoying it anyway.

[–] strongarm@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Rogue Trader, it's quite a new game, but it has a Steam Deck mode and runs quite reasonably for a turn based combat game, really enjoying it.

[–] nokturne213@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

I installed it and started creating a character. That is as far as I have gotten.

The loading screens tho 😭

[–] shreknel@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

There is a bug in that it will only load a limited amount of assets per frame. If you reduce fps, then loading will be artificially limited in speed. Look for a mod that fixes this.

[–] BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz 2 points 11 months ago

Ohhh

Thank you !

[–] Rolive@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 11 months ago

Dishonored runs quite well. I'm also playing God Hand with a PS2 emulator. What a ridiculous game.

[–] rarWars@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 year ago

Just picked up Crusader Kings II, the base game is free on steam. Definitely right up my alley, so far I like the more diplomatic focus of CK2 compared to the other Paradox games I've played (HOI4 and Stellaris).

[–] F04118F@feddit.nl 3 points 1 year ago

OG Crysis!

It's a pretty great Deck game, and I'd never seen it run as consistently as it does on Deck at 40fps limit.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 3 points 1 year ago

Tron: Catalyst. Not super far into it yet, but it's pretty cool so far. I really like the top-down/isometric view games on the Deck.

[–] blackbarn@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 year ago

Got V Rising on sale. Works good on the deck.

I bought a handful of cheap / deep discount games during the Summer Sale this year.

One I wasn't sure about was BIOTA. Turns out it's been more fun than I expected for such a simplistic game.

I've also been playing Blasphemous. I really like Metroidvanias but these "souls like" style games are irritating to me. Still, it was cheap and I can appreciate the aesthetic.

I'm looking forward to having more time to play these games, as of yet, it's been like 20 minutes here, 30 minutes a few days later, so it's hard to make much progress and enjoy them with such limited time to dive in.

Glass Masquerade 3: Honeylines.

[–] wolre@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Funnily enough, recently I've been playing the FF6 Pixel Remaster on the Deck. It's still a very good game.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 year ago

Haven't been touching my Steam profile a lot recently for games, but I've at least been doing some Gemcraft Frostborn Shadows.

Other than that, I actually got back into Sonic Lost Worlds on 3DS. As much as I hate the special stages, one single stage on an unmodded PC version of the game made me realize that movement sucks a little less on the 3DS version.

In other words, I don't endorse getting the Steam version of you have a 3DS unless you wanna mod it to make the movements less jank. Definitely not a good Sonic game, regardless of device, because of the movement like turning being atrocious.

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

I'm mostly playing Ys 9 Monstrum Nox, and it's been a fun time. Also been playing some Mindustry with friends, although I suspect I'll want to make some tweaks to the control scheme before I play too much longer.

[–] learningduck@programming.dev 2 points 11 months ago

Darksiders Genesis, Salt and Sanctuary. With my child Spyro.

Primarily playing Victoria 3 since the new expansion came out earlier this month. Not verified on the deck but it (along with most paradox games) works like a charm on the deck though it can have some small slowdowns towards the end game.

[–] Mugmoor@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago

I just picked up FF7 Rebirth and Riders Republic during the sale. I've been enjoying them quite a bit. Otherwise my Deck is mostly used to play Dead Cells and PokeMMO.
