Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Only making him more popular, Zohran not bending the knee and becoming polarized against the DNC is a dream come true, literally everything we wished bernie had done since 2016

[–] spectre@hexbear.net 63 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Gassing up Zohran to my liberal friends (who are into it), pointing out loudly that HIS MAIN OPPOSITION IS DEMOCRATS, NOT REPUBLICANS

Then sit back and watch the Dems do the rest of the propaganda for me as I send them the reporting on the ratfucking over the next few months. The only trick is to not spam so hard that it gets annoying.

Dems at least have the decency to be impotent and proud of it.

What are they going to do? Kiss Mamdani’s feet in hopes he will drop out? A strongly worded letter calling him a big meanie?

[–] mamotromico@lemmy.ml 14 points 4 days ago

I still think they’ll find a way to fuck him over, and the blowback will be insane.

But yeah I don’t see him folding from what I’ve read about him

[–] spectre@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I'm just glad someone is forcing them to act instead of folding (unless he ends up folding like AOC, but we haven't gotten there yet)

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

There’s a couple green flags:

  • He went on the Gravel Institute to talk about housing.

  • Has explicitly said “the means of production”

[–] spectre@hexbear.net 7 points 4 days ago

I'm feeling good and hopeful, just never know what to expect when the rubber meets the road

[–] VibeCoder@hexbear.net 33 points 4 days ago

This is a good point

Neolibs proving yet again they are just the left arm of fascism

Neolibs proving yet again they are just ~~the left arm of~~ fascism

[–] marxisthayaca@hexbear.net 57 points 4 days ago

Zohran benefits from not being associated with these ghouls.

bourgeois class solidarity is rock solid

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 48 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Liberals: We must defeat conservatives at all costs!

politician that is nominally left of center is winning

Liberals: frothingfash WE DON'T ENDORSE COMMIES DRAG THEM DOWN

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 20 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Probably won't hear much "vote blue no matter who" this time around

[–] Antiwork@hexbear.net 9 points 4 days ago

Every phrase they have used to try and get normies to vote for their awful candidates need to be used against them now.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 49 points 4 days ago (2 children)

i bet the democrats have a plan in place to isolate him and cause his failure; so there's no reason to endorse him.

[–] dragongloss@hexbear.net 43 points 4 days ago

This is the only time they ever make a plan at all.

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 24 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yeah it was called Cuomo, look how that worked out

[–] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 18 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

I wouldn't be shocked if they're going for a repeat of the same strategy they used against India Walton. It would be very funny if it fails this time.

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 24 points 4 days ago

I hope they do, only 64,000 people voted in Buffalo, hated dems won't win through a write-in campaign in a city as massive and diverse as New York, Zohran's 50,000 strong door knocking army would obliterate them

[–] prole@hexbear.net 16 points 4 days ago

I'm not familiar with this one, but I was reading about it just now and holy shit how did they even do that? Does write in not mean what I think it means? They actually got that many people to write someone's name down and not fill in a bubble or whatever? I always figured that shit was just about impossible to do

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 46 points 4 days ago (1 children)

“The progressive case for Curtis Sliwa” op-ed any day now.

[–] Monstertruckenjoyer@hexbear.net 27 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Sliwa is a legitimately hilarious candidate, obviously it'd rule to get a socialist but a wannabe super hero is at least funny

[–] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 9 points 4 days ago (2 children)

holy shit, i think we've cracked the code: america loves clowns, and we need to run the clowniest, jokerliest candidates if we ever want to win electoralism

What a totally unforeseen outcome.

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 37 points 4 days ago

What? No! This is so unexpected! jagoff

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 28 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Not being endorsed by Dems is the best possible endorsement any candidate can have. Everyone hates them. They can't read the metaphorical room though, because the only actual rooms they're in are full of rich donors and lanyard freaks

[–] prole@hexbear.net 33 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Any day now they'll say something like Mamdani Men and say all his supporters are sexist.

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 25 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

"Not voting for a sex pest is actually very misogynist especially since Blii Clinton endorsed him, he is married to Hillary (the most feminist woman ever) after all" maybe-later-honey

[–] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago

The Mamdani Mujahideen

[–] Jabril@hexbear.net 16 points 4 days ago

Wait wait wait, not like that!

[–] rodneyck@lemmy.dbzer0.com 27 points 4 days ago

No one (anyone fighting for the actual working class) gets by their Neo-liberal guards!

[–] LaughingLion@hexbear.net 21 points 4 days ago (1 children)

the democratic party hates muslim men

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 14 points 4 days ago

The democrats of today became the republicans of 2004 when it comes to islamophobia and the republicans, well, they became straight up neo-nazis.

[–] space_comrade@hexbear.net 22 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Is Zohran good? It's a good signal that the dems are against him but also I've seen him mince his words and weasel out of some questions similar to what AOC and Bernie do usually, so far it seems to me like he'll be New York AOC.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 21 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

His policy will be socdem but unlike aoc he is not a socdem, he is absolutely one of us. They will fight him far more viciously than aoc or bernie.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

he is absolutely one of us

inshallah they will fight him harder then, but if he is one of us than he actually stands a chance in that fight unlike Bernie or AOC who fold immediately.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 17 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

I don't think he stands a chance of achieving much at all tbh. But I will support the man tooth and nail because seeing that socialists can not work from within the system is a prerequisite to people radicalising.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Completely agree. But i think he will at least fight and be clear on who is stopping him and why, which will make for good agitprop. Unlike Bernie folding and calling Biden a "good friend", or AOC capitulating to leadership and crying about "committee appointments"

What they’re just supposed to campaign without the foreign influence of AIPAC??? What if they write articles vaguely calling them anti-semitic?? Please try to have empathy for the insider trading ghouls they’re just poor widdle babies

[–] Notcontenttobequiet@hexbear.net 19 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I'm not optimistic about anything, but it sure feels like the constant charges of antisemitism and "support Israel no matter what" is backfiring on the Dems. I doubt they'll change course, but it's really desperate and embarrassing and it's about to be even worse. When this one guy (supposedly on your side) can get Kristen Gillibrand to sound like Laura Loomer, I think even a lot of milquetoast Dems are going to be questioning why this is the priority issue when everything else is going to shit.

It's time for the libs to scratch that itch until it bleeds

die fuckers

[–] CTHlurker@hexbear.net 4 points 3 days ago

If the democrats actually wanted to sink Zohran's campaign, they would have Hillary Clinton come out and endorse him. Can't think of a quicker way to kill every normal person's engagement than by getting the Clinton Kiss of Death.
