Uni results day today.

I passed my placement - yay.

HD on my final assignment in one unit - w00t.

Still waiting on the results for the other unit. I dunno why the first 2 released at 9am and this one is taking ages.

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Hearty congratulations! My final assignment was submitted very late due to extensions so I don't think I'll get a grade until mid July but it's always a great feeling to get some results back after a round of hard work.

THE SHIT MANAGER IS MOVING DEPARTMENTS!!!!!!!!

I report to SLT now. Fuck yes. Fuck yes.

My hatred for my job has almost completely evaporated. This guy has been a nightmare from day 1.

Today, he shoved 2 of the team members because he got frustrated with them.

They came and told me about it and I went to the CEO straight away.

What an absolute piece of shit.

[โ€“] Duenan@aussie.zone 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He should be reported to HR, you are absolutely not allowed to lay hands on people like that but the people who got shoved are the ones who need to lodge in the complaint.

I've got a meeting with them tomorrow morning.

Fucking cowardly piece of shit. He had to go pick on the young staff, he wouldn't dare do it to any of the older ones. Standard coward tactics.

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago

Woohoo!!!!! God it's such a relief when a toxic personality leaves

Miniest didn't get an offer from her first choice of high school. I came home to a little girl crying in her bedroom, in bed with the curtains closed. I explained that it's part of the process and probably ed dept policy for every child to be offered a place at a school in their catchment area. We still have an appointment with them later this month.. on the very day appeals must be lodged by. So there's still a (probably slim) chance. But ๐Ÿ’”

Oh poor miniest, thatโ€™s so hard. It might be worth contacting the preferred school again, and asking if you could get an appointment earlier if the opportunity arises. Slim chance, but worth a try. There might be other kids that decline their spots or something

I'm about to open a container that came from her room that I think has food in it. I think there's something growing in there but I have to save my fork. Pray for me.

Update: I don't know what that was. Maybe banana and yogurt. Fuck.

[โ€“] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I would have sacrificed the fork! ๐Ÿคฎ

7 hours to go lol

I won't be doing this all day. Just once and that's enough. Hopefully we don't have to stay as late but we'll see ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿพ

Today absolutely frigging dragged on - I really am due for some fieldwork so I can get out in the fresh air again but nothing coming up for a while :c

I might get moving on my plans to be away in August.

I'm so torn between (a) ending my lease and dumping my shit in storage, or (b) just leaving everything at this rental and going away then coming back.

(a) is much, much more cathartic and closer to my heart... but also challenging and stressful in the short term, and more expensive in the short term due to moving. But does give me the option to extend my break or travel while working remotely if I decide to do that

(b) is easier and cheaper in the short term but psychologically I feel like I won't get that satisfaction of closing off the past and moving into a new phase of my life with new aims, habits, etc. coming back to this place could see me falling back into a rut because it's the easy choice. Also will get more expensive if I stay away for longer.

I'm giving myself a week max to sleep on it and decide. At this point I know I'll be away for a month and the rent is 400/week so financially it'll only make more sense to dump into storage maybe if I'm away for three months or more. But it isn't just the finances... I desperately need to shake things up!

Well this is proving to be difficult.

In better news turns out I accidentally crossbred habs with thai:

Fruits way later and has a hint of habs flavour but not too much and with all the heat. Always found the thais do better in the cold so will be keeping those seeds.

Is being home harder than the hospital? Is Ol' Girl eating?

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago

I think it's easier for her here at home, but she's gone back into 'I need to do domestic chores' mode which might actually not be that bad. I know this might sound bad but I'm leaving small light stuff out for her to put away just so she feels like she's doing something.

Eating is the hard one but she's getting more down here than in hospital. In hindsight should've disregarded advice to not bring anything in.

There is an excursion on tomorrow as part of this work conference. It's going to be cold and miserable so I simply Will Not Go.

Everyone on the excursion will think I'm at the office. Everyone at the office will think I'm on the excursion. I will stay home and actually get some work done

Well hello awesome tax return, nice to meet you too!

Edit: from last year. Also another 12 hour day in the office. I'm taking tomorrow off. Fuck this lol

My brain is fried. 24 hours of work in 2 days. Trying to eat some veggies and then suddenly

You get a little nip on the arm.

Why?

because fuck you that's why!!

A few minutes later you settle back in to finish dinner. Your turn your head to this

You give up and go get the treats.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago

you in trouble for not being home

So I've volunteered to spend the night overseeing an unknown number of kids on music camp.

*Numbers may change dependent on enrollment

Overnight stay in dorm room with year 5/6 boys from xxxxxxxxxxxxxx primary

Now that I'm staring at the email and imaging what this is going to entail, I can see why they struggle to find parents willing to do it. I think I need to accept that I'm going to get five hours sleep that night if I'm lucky. Set aside time on the Sunday for a good nap.

I just want to do nothing today. Couldn't get out of bed, now can't get into work at all.

[โ€“] just_kitten@aussie.zone 9 points 1 month ago

Feeling pretty fuzzy today myself. Mehhhhh. Not sure I would've wanted to rot at home either. I just want to get away!

[โ€“] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago

Absolutely agree with this today, cannot get in the headspace to work.

Have zero motivation and even less interest in doing work today.

Bosses got on my nerves this morning by giving me another runaround task instead of actually doing what I asked of them (5 min job for them, several hours for me).

Time to stretch those hours into days it seems.

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Soooooooooooooo it turns out all that render i've been bathed in for the past year gots the lead.

Personally being genX i have a fatalistic view of life, raging systemic lead poisoning and zero shits anyway, but husband is losing his mind so off for a blood test i go.

[โ€“] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago

There is such a thing as chelation to reduce lead levels in the blood. Check for compatibility with any current medication though, as it may remove that from the bloodstream too.

Things have been achieved today. I have changed the sheets on the bed. I have organised a rubbish collection for the last of the stuff at my old place. I have changed the date of my upcoming rental inspection. I have cooked soup and have yellow chicken curry on the stove now. The pet's water bowl has been thoroughly cleaned. I have done the vacuuming and just need to do a bit of a mop and clean the sinks etc. and the cleaning to do list should be done. I think I'm even going to have enough time to do a bit more sorting / unpacking.

No story spoilers, but here are some Death Stranding 2 thoughts:

spoilerI wish most producers were given as much creative freedom as Kojima. There are a lot more weird and sellable games out there that never got made because big players in the industry are so risk averse. Very few game series have been such a weird fever dream and so deeply moving as the Death Stranding games. I can't re-watch the final DS2 sequences without tearing up. So beautiful and sad.

Cried with frustration at the end of tonight's rebound session. Mostly frustration with myself. Unfortunately the trainer noticed and so everyone noticed. She (and everyone else) was absolutely lovely about it and I know I'll go back, but wahhh.

Raging cat fight in the backyard. Not enough light to see who is involved. Set the neighbours dog off too. Just what we need World War Fury.

There wasnโ€™t that much I could have at Aldi and Kmart is no longer cheap. Oof

[โ€“] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago

Went out with an old friend tonight who reached out and asked me to a game of warewolf (similar to mafia) at a pub in Balaclava. First Tuesday of the month if anyone's keen for a bluffing game with randomly assigned roles. Really friendly bunch of people.

[โ€“] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago

A whole week of company conference and I need to present today as well. I'm not nervous about presenting but I'd rather get things done than sit in a room with people explaining, 'if you sell things for more money, you make more money.'

[โ€“] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago

Today bites and I am very ready for it to be done!
