At least I think they are grackles, I googled it and the call sounds about what I hear from my yard. Wonder if climate change is causing this?

Grackle calls are very distinct, but you can use merlin bird id app to be sure.

I'm sure you could find a bird map of your area which says when they are typically around. It could be possible that they are moving around differently due to climate change or just that you hadn't noticed them there at this time before

I would double recommended Merlin app. I love to use my old Audubon but I also wonder how their projected range or habitat has changed due to climate change.

Were you the comrade who recommended the app a couple of days ago. If so, I can't thank you enough. I now have a new hobby. Also I'm lucky enough to live pretty close to three of the top birding spots in LA county. Just spent the morning at the arboretum chasing birds around. So much fun.
