Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

Colbert speaks truth to power here. Zohran's reign of terror must end. When he says Israel must uphold international law, he is literally doing a pogrom at me. 🙄

I liked the Colbert Report... 😢

Truly, fuck Colbert. Absolutely dirtbag piece of shit.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 71 points 1 month ago (2 children)

he proved beyond a shadow of a doubt how much of a dirt bag he was when i brought on gov't spokepeople to denounce tiktok as a spying platform; like facebook and twitter aren't.

[–] whiskers165@hexbear.net 67 points 1 month ago

I think I'm remembering one episode from the original Colbert Report, must've been like fifteen years ago, where he had Henry Kissinger on and had nothing negative to say, they were just paling around

Facebook literally played a part in a fucking genocide too i-cant Twitter playing a big part in atroturfing for a guy that undermines their beloved constitution. Americans are not and never will be serioue people

[–] glimmer_twin@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago

Data from meta apps was also used to target victims of the Israeli attacks on Iran, apparently

Why is in everybody in media a zionist. What a clown show.

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 47 points 1 month ago

US media has been under the thumb of the military-industrial complex for a looong time

It's why the best you can get for Antizionism is mealy mouthed allegory

[–] godlessworm@hexbear.net 29 points 1 month ago

everybody in power is a zionist and it makes it literally impossible to argue with antisemites. not because that fact proves them right or anything, but because they’re so stupid that no matter what actual material analysis or points you refute their antisemitism with they just say “okay so why is x y and z owned by a jewish guy?”. and nothing you say to a motherfucker like that matters

it doesn’t matter that all those supposedly “jewish” people are white european capitalists. the same white europeans who came here and did the exact shit to the natives that they’re doing over there in palestine. somehow thats not part of the equation but the smokescreen of judaism they use is. and these antisemites talk like they have it all figured out. shit makes me so mad. and israel makes it impossible to argue with them when they own all of our politicians, everybody on tv is singing their praises and propaganda etc

Oh! Good! We're going to talk about the elephant in the room!

.........

I can't believe I used to like this guy

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 28 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

He was more likable (or at least, much less detestable) when he was pretending to be a conservative to lampoon them

When he actually pulled off that mask, he became far less tolerable

[–] sexywheat@hexbear.net 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

IMO it was when he took the job at The Late Show. He fully became part of the establishment media at that point. Wasn't allowed to be as "edgy" any more. I guess whatever morals or values he had were malleable at best.

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Let's not kid ourselves, it was over the course of the success of the Colbert Report, especially under Obama, where he oriented more and more toward flattering the Democratic establishment and cultivating celebrity connections. The Late Show is just the completed metamorphosis.

[–] sexywheat@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago

yea

I'm glad I discovered Lee Camp so I can still get my late/talk show fix without any lib energy. Bro talks so much shit about Pissreal it's awesome.

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 13 points 1 month ago

I stopped watching after this but later decided to take a nap with the Seeder show on and he played more of it and HOLY HECK did he REALLY draw a line from "jews will not replace us" to "stop doing a genocide"???

[–] Dessa@hexbear.net 52 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Zohran looks really smooth. Every time I see him in the hot seat, he comes out pristine.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 29 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Why do I get the feeling that conveniently the media is going to wise up from Trump and if Mamdani pulls off the primary, they’ll all agree to keep quiet about him?

[–] NephewAlphaBravo@hexbear.net 28 points 1 month ago (1 children)

because they did it to bernie in 2020?

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 26 points 1 month ago

Tsk tsk, those Biden Bros, they’re just too antisemitic to vote in a Jewish president.

Perhaps they support Hamas if they’re that antisemitic?

[–] RION@hexbear.net 6 points 1 month ago

A smooth Bernie for the modern age

"Candidate Zohran - if you become Mayor Zohran - will you send NYPD troops to Israel to assist them in their genocide in Gaza? Many New Yorkers are concerned you will not. And this is troubling."

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 31 points 1 month ago

Bunch of the-pigs showing up, shooting everyone the second they land in Tel Aviv

Too scary for them not to

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 48 points 1 month ago

The image is really good but I don't think we need another thread so I'll leave it here.

“The war crime of October 7.” This guy is another AOCIA. If he becomes mayor, nothing will change.

[–] Sleve_McDichael@hexbear.net 28 points 1 month ago

If he gets elected he’ll still be too smol bean as mayor of the US’s largest city to enact radical changes like free bus fare

[–] abc@hexbear.net 17 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I mean...did you expect him to shoot his candidacy in both feet by saying on national TV something like "the epic hanggliding event of October 7th"???

If he becomes mayor, nothing will change.

waow i didn't know the mayor of NYC gets the ability to stop any international conflict they want as soon as they are elected. Eric Adams could've stopped Israel from bombing hospitals years ago but he was too busy getting flights to Turkey!!

[–] duderium@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago

I meant that in NYC, nothing will change.

[–] tastemyglaive@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Are we really doing "he's hiding his power level" in 2025?

[–] abc@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

that's not what i said, so no unless you are.

[–] Lemmygradwontallowme@hexbear.net 33 points 1 month ago

Zohran gave an inch, lost a mile here.

[–] cinnaa42@hexbear.net 31 points 1 month ago

im glad that somebody is finally speaking up for Jewish ppl in New York. ive never heard anyone give voice to their "concerns" before so this is refreshing

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He got endorsed by Clyburn? dean-sussy

The cold dead hand of Pharma Jim.

[–] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Obviously not watching this but I am sure he spent an equivalent amount of airtime asking about actual issues like the MTA, affordability crisis, aging infrastructure, or why the Mets lost 9 out of their last 10
