There's drugnerd whispers on the internet that DXM (microdosed) can block or attenuate the development of tolerance to various ligands, particularly amphetamine.

Any DrugNerdz here who can explain the valudity of this conjecture or expand on it in any helpful way

I’ve taken my fair share of DXM. The last time I did it I was hanging out with this guy. We were looking for roll or acid or both. I told him that I could make him the most fucked up he’s ever been and it’s over the counter. He called me a liar and told me to prove it.

We get back to my house and each eat 32 pills. That was 2 boxes of medicine. About three hours later. This full grown man approached me with the face of a child that had just witnessed all the horrors of WWI, and said Muhammad I’ve never been this fucked up before.

I said “I told you so. I then told him that the last time I did this I swore I’d never do it again, but I had made a special concession just for him.

We laid in my side yard in complete silence for what felt like an eternity. Staring at the stars. Only to look at a watch and realize that only 20 mins had passed.

It took 2 days to get back to normal. He didn’t hang out with me very much after that. Also, those pills had a sugar coating. The same coating name brand advil have. To this day my body won’t let me swallow anything with that sugar coating on it. I tried to take some Advil, and gagged so hard I shot the pill into my sinuses.

I know that doesn’t answer your question, but I wanted to share.

Man, I feel like everyone that did a lot of robotripping all hit that point (pretty quickly) where they have to stop.

Not because they want to get clean, not because they have a bad trip, but their body just draws a line in the sand that it's not accepting anymore dxm...

Never heard of it happening to a crackhead or alcoholic. But at some point everyone's body just rebels against cough medicine.

Yep. Can confirm, I can't even look at them anymore without feeling that bile rise.

That said. I miss MXE. Since the UK banned it I haven't found it anywhere.

It’s crazy how that happens. At first those sweet pills weren’t bad at all. But eventually it’s like my body associated that taste with what’s about to come and tried to preemptively sabotage me. That stuff is weird.

That’s why I stopped mixing the mushrooms with nice tasting stuff to mask it.

I melted a pan full of chocolate once and suspended little diced shrooms in it. Hey nice right? Nope I couldn’t eat chocolate for a year afterward.

The time dilation is super real with DXM, it really is incredible in its temporal-perception-altering capabillity

I know DXM use and abuse is effective in preventing a strong career and stable life. That cough suppressant was actually an Air Force career suppressant for a dude I used to know.

I wouldn't say its any absolute, it can play a role in mentally resetting you at the hyperdosage level. Almost like a "hard reset" like when you turn off your device or whatever

Personally, I agree that it can be very dangerous as well both acutely and over chronic usage. We don't know much about potential kidney issues like with ketamine or if there's any other nasty health risks like Olney's lesions etc.

Bro... It looks like you are already at the "this drug I take has magic properties" part with talking about time dilation and mental hard resets. So, I hope getting up is easy when you fall down.

Dude, like what is the bottom line with your comments here? Trust me, I'm better than ever and I have zero intention of touching DXM for a very long time (legit had an issue with urinary retention one time that was beyond uncomfortable but I also just hate throwing up ever if I don't have to).

Thisnis purely out of curiosity about whether it can help attenuate general tolerance development for various substances (itself being taken at a microdosage level—not plateau territory, as I suspect you're implying). It is almost purely academic besides the plausibillity and ease of trying it out for anecdotal purposes.

Why do you think DXM might have this property?

I’ve not heard of this being a property of any substance or procedure.

I just wonder what NMDA-antagonism has to do with the prevention of tolerance development in response to drug-taking of various substances.

Edit: its my vague recollection that it involved no more than 20-60mg of the hydrobromide, typically.

That's a fuckin word-salad

It really is yuck

Edit: condensed it i hope

Everything I’ve read about avoiding amphetamine tolerance involves horrible stories of people fucked up for life
