Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Democrats need to be undermined at all costs. Fuck the party, they're useless parasites that need to be opposed full heartedly. We need to build a new movement without these spineless enablers that have earned thousands of people a place in concentration camps already.

It's more worth fighting Democrats at this point, because they're doing nothing but defend fascism. The fascists want us to fight them in ways that justify further crackdowns, while they'll do little to protect the Democratic party from pain. These fuckers need to lose every election they run in, face constant protests outside their headquarters, be made to shut the fuck up if they refuse to do the bare fucking minimum.

We can never forgive and never forget the cowardice of the Democrats.

Ever heard the expression "cutting off your ear to spite your face"?

Hate the democrats all you want, but it's the party that has the greatest chance to displace the current administration. 2024 saw a comparatively large number of independent votes, and Trump was victorious as a result. Division is what they want because it weakens the opposition. You are playing into their hands and against your own interests.

Having an imperfect solution is preferable to nothing but grand ideas of a nationwide revolt and daydreams of a perfect world.

Trump "won" because 15 million Democrat votes either didn't bother voting for Harris or their votes were stolen. Either way blaming it on third parties is just straight up delusional nonsense.

Of course reality is more complex than my comment. It's even more complex than what you wrote if we consider all factors, like the propaganda targeting muslim, hispanic, and black communities, the gerrymandering, protest votes, Gaza, Russia, everything that happened behind the curtain that we have no knowledge about...

Non-voters conributed to the result. So did independent votes. Blaming it on any one factor is nonsense, but a deep and exhaustive analysis was not the point of my comment.

That's a lot of cope when you could have just said "I knew I was full of shit"

democrat votes

So, if they didnt 'pull for her' she did not earn them.

There are no meaningful federal elections until the king is dead. The liberal experiment has ended. It will not return until we have escaped the depths of hell we are in, which not only means Trump is long dead and buried, but we are no longer ruled by corrupt politicians who always favor capitalism over democracy.

The sad truth I doubt you'll be brave enough to accept is that your attitude was the reason the Democrats lost. The voters should've never been expected to shape themselves into the people their billionaire backers wanted. The politicians needed to cede more to social democracy if they wanted to retain the liberal order. Just like the capitalist oligarchs, liberals expected a free lunch. They wanted popular support for the system without doing jack to make it popular.

Be the first, then. Throw the first brick. Fire the first shot. Prove your philosophy.

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You some kinda glowie trying to bait me? The fuck you think my philosophy is?

The only thing I believe with total conviction is that I want to know the truth, no matter how hopeless, unfortunate, or inconvenient it may be. If that's too radical for you, you should probably go worship billionaires on corporate socials instead of hanging out here.

I'm not calling you out or anything, I've used it myself in the past before I found out myself, but apparently "glowie" has a pretty racist etymology, referring to Terry Davis's rants about "CIA n***ers that glow in the dark"

[–] rtxn@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago

I could elaborate, but I have no wish to place myself under the ban hammer, and tilting at windmills is a habit I'm trying to kick.

Finally.

Yeah, people are being taken to concentration camps.

Also they're being kidnapped by the government without pretense or paperwork. Because that's 'too slow'. Which is somehow the bad part?

Anything done to stop the government here is stopping violence.

Also stopping lawlessness and disorder, if anyone actually cares¹

¹No. No you do not.

[–] Paradachshund@lemmy.today 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah to anyone critiquing this, you might feel differently if it was your own family being abducted.

My feelings would definitely get more complicated!

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

Lying fascists lying about everything all the time really creates a need for saying excruciatingly obvious shit.

[–] Sheepy@sh.itjust.works 25 points 2 days ago (3 children)

I'm still waiting for all the 2A people to resist that tyranny. Any day now, take your time.

[–] Rozauhtuno@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 2 days ago

I believe they are on the side of tyranny. Who would've predicted it?

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

they specifically arnt targetting red counties, or places where theres "illegals" like meat packing plants, etc.

[–] GoodLuckToFriends@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

And they're smart enough to take people when they aren't able to do "2A people" type stuff. It's hard for an illegal to own a gun in the first place, much less have it at work when your boss will use any excuse to crack the whip at you to keep the others oppressed and in line.

[–] revv@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 days ago

You could go buy a gun and be the change you wanna see in the world. Hell, join the Socialist Rifle Association and get some training. Or you could just continue to whine, I guess.
