My bugbear was always "Well the world isn't fair".
Then do your part and help make it fair. Or at least concede the point I'm suffering needlessly. What kind of unempathetic shit is that response
The world isn't fair is a good explanation when bad things happen, not a good excuse as to why better things can't happen.
So many people go with the more discouraged interpretation.

Noo, we must all suffer under it and not go any farther than complain 
I've also said things like this to people as a response, and they will do a 180 and be grateful for the bullshit under capitalism like "at least I can consume endless amounts of slop"
Over time my response became, "then I'm going to make life unfair in my favor." And I did.
Food and shelter and being able to take care of your loved ones is a privilege not a right
