Pretty sure the one time one lived longer than a week it became an early game Dark Souls boss

[–] PrinzKasper@feddit.org 5 points 2 months ago

There was another time where one of these moths tried to overthrow god and became the final boss of FlyKnight

[–] Grass@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

it lived solely to have a shitload of projectiles fired at it before dispersing a fog wall

Ah yes, from the much less frequently remembered "I have no mouth and I must fuck"

You can also use their wings for invisibility potions

[–] CaptainBlagbird@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Waaait, I thought they would help me with my own search for mating. This explains a lot!!

[–] TheFriendlyDickhead@lemm.ee 21 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Ok where does the mass come from? It has to consume something.

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 52 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It gets all its mass from eating during it caterpillar stage. It loses its digestive system during metamorphosis.

[–] LanguageIsCool@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That’s pretty fascinating evolutionarily. It has a metamorphosis stage literally just so it can get wings to better find a mate, fuck, and die.

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think we and our closest relatives are the weird ones. If I remember right, most species of animal can reproduce until they die, and many die after reproducing. We kinda complicated things not just by looking after our children but also their children too.

[–] LanguageIsCool@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Our caterpillar stage is being socialized and learning the current culture. It’s interesting that many cultures have rites into adulthood, like a symbolic cocoon stage.

“It takes a village” is evolutionary advantageous perhaps; mixing avoids extremes.

Energy is from fat stores created while a caterpillar.

I salute our boys and blue and the sky wizard who benevolently grants cancers to our children. Blessed be.

All I Know Is That I Must Kill is Image of a Russian OMSN MVD RF servicemember wearing a Maska SCh1 helmet. It is most common used either sincerely or ironically about gamers and their attitudes to games, particularly first-person shooters. It is used in a similar capacity to the Stealth is optional for this mission meme and is related to the Lord Tachanka meme as they both a similar look by wearing the Maska SCh1 helmet.

We get tons of these lil bastards in my warehouse around this time. Why do they end up in my warehouse and why are their lives so short?

[–] Crazyslinkz@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

why are thier lives so short

See above where they have no mouth or digestive system.

Edit: typo and added digestive

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

Look for the caterpillars and cocoons. Those very hungry caterpillars are eating a lot of something, let's see....

"this caterpillar constantly munches on the leaves of walnut, hickory, sweetgum, and paper birch trees."

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

That's an interesting-looking thumb.

[–] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

[–] untakenusername@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 months ago
