i dont see why people are saying this is about being an egg. its just a wolf dressing like a sheep! and then the wolf really likes it! no subtext here

Some people have discovered a brand new thing to them, which dramatically improved their lives, and because they're full of happiness, keep seeing that thing everywhere and talk constantly about it.

That or they're the Jehovah's Witnesses of the LGBTQ world.

Genuinely a really nice explanation!

Good for them, but I'm in my basement and I won't hear them knocking at my door.

That's the cool thing about art. It can be what YOU want it to be. Too many people these days forget that.

Subtext? Is that like a new hamburger or something?

I'm so fully invested.

Every day it gets harder for Shen to beat the allegations

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I take it Shen is suspected of being a furry?

[–] Samdell@lemmy.eco.br 27 points 2 months ago (2 children)

No, he makes occasional art that feels egg-y

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Fwiw I hadn’t considered Shen’s gender to begin with, but fair.

What does egg mean in this context?

[–] FinnFooted@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (2 children)

A trans person who hasn't fully admitted to others (or perhaps even to themselves) that they're trans.

So by the generation and spreading of egg rumors, we are potentially outing someone against their will?

[–] Samdell@lemmy.eco.br 5 points 2 months ago

I realize the hypocrisy of saying this, as the person who started the conversation, but yes, its considered very rude to point someone out as an egg in a genuine fashion, for multiple reasons but including outing against their will, the idea that they might already transitioned in their own way, the idea of trying to define someone without their consent, etc.

It's really fine just to remain an egg if someone wants. It probably just means that person was non-binary, or gender queer in some other way they were comfortable with.
