IMPORTANT

Please do not post the "good friend" or similar copypasta

==========

Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.

One of my favorite family moments with a young child

I am watching my niece for the weekend, she must be 5 or 6 at this time. We had a good day and when it was getting dark she laid down on the couch and said she wanted to watch "the princess movie". I was like ... hmmm ok which one of my DVDs was she talking about....

After a bit of do you mean this one? and showing it to her? no? ok.... next and then I started to make it a silly game

but then she got up and went straight to Empire Strikes Back and said

THE PRINCESS MOVIE Uncle thisbenzingring!!!!! and game me the duh!!!!! look

I fell so deeply in love with that girl that day

My son shouting THATS ANAKINS LIGHT SABER when Luke faced Kylo was one of my favorites.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 11 months ago

We were all very proud of him that day. 🤘🏼

depends on "the stuff" we're talking about?

the OT? it's an obligation. The Holiday Special? it's frowned on, but hey, a little torture is good for them, right? the prequels? naw. the sequels? You monster you.

[–] NeptuneOrbit@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago (2 children)

The NYT article is specifically about Andor

[–] tiramichu@lemm.ee 17 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Well that would be weird because

  1. Andor is not for children

  2. Andor is the least star-wars-like Star Wars

  3. Andor is actually good

  1. Andor is the least star-wars-like Star Wars

  2. Andor is actually good

These 2 are probably connected lol

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 11 months ago

That's NYT's fault then, for phrasing the headline to illicit interaction via confusion. Profit-ticking obfuscation is a cheap trick.

What about Caravan of Courage?

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

Morality fables are of some value. Don't go wandering off, kiddos.

[–] blaue_Fledermaus@mstdn.io 5 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I watched the prequels first as a child. I still like Jar Jar.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 11 months ago

Your parents failed early.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Jar Jar is a Sith Lord.

your parents led you to have horrible role models.

(naw. if you enjoy them, you enjoy them. honestly, Jar Jar is the least annoying thing about the prequels. Emo Vader pisses me off.)

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 7 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Only if it's not the sequels, as they would be considered cruel and unusual.

[–] A7thStone@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

If you think it's justified to force anyone to watch the prequels you are a monster beyond retribution.

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

And if you think about forcing your 70's nostalgia on your offspring, you should lose custody.

Basically, only the Clone Wars is allowed.

[–] muntedcrocodile@lemm.ee 6 points 11 months ago (3 children)

The real question is chronological or release order?

[–] big_slap@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago (3 children)

watch in this order: 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6

[–] AtariDump@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago

I like this; it treats 1-3 like a flashback.

[–] muntedcrocodile@lemm.ee 5 points 11 months ago

Now that's controversial

[–] threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

This is the "Extended Machete" order, isn't it?

[–] big_slap@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

maybe! I read it online once years ago, and it just makes sense to me lol

[–] threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works 5 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

For introducing someone new to the series, release order, no question.

For rewatch marathons, chronological order.

[–] muntedcrocodile@lemm.ee 3 points 11 months ago

That's what I recon

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I'm not a fan of the Machete order. While it preserves the Vader reveal, it spoils Leia's parentage.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Not any worse than Schpielblurg's untouched opus, NGL. 😜

[–] threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)
[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Ol' Stevie when he thought he could write. 🤷🏽‍♂️

[–] threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

As far as I know, Steven Spielberg never wrote any part of Star Wars, although he is good friends with a person who did.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 11 months ago

Ha! So right. I get them mixed up, sorry. 🤣🤦🏼‍♂️

[–] Zagorath@aussie.zone 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You missed the publication deadline by 10 days, John.

[–] hazardous_area@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 months ago

Nah he does this exact kinda case year round. Pretty good podcast/column

[–] angrystego@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

You can FORCE them if you stay on the good side. Always look on the bright side of force.
