Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

I like how the whole "we have to do more with less" bullshit is hitting the military as well. Neoliberalism is so self-cannabilzing

Edit: seems everyone in the reddit thread thinks it's to weaken the army because Trump is in Putin/Xi's pocket picard

every single news headline has "trump is doing this bc he's a russian agent!!!" responses on r*ddit

yesterday while reading about the tariffs, it was because he didnt put tariffs on russia (you know, since it's under sanctions). before that, it was not aiding ukraine so russia could take it easily. i'm sure there will be even more reasons tomorrow!

When you're already determined you know the cause, everything else just seems to be a reason

Robert Mueller will prove that he's a Russian asset! so-true

I can't remember who described social democrats as liberals in a hurry, but the US is double-fascist with the Republicans being fascist in a hurry.

I bet they try going hard into autonomous drones and weapons instead, since we cleared that ethical hurdle in record time

[–] sexywheat@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago

I think you can thank the Genocidal Entity for that one

So, more weapons, less soldiers?

It is a strategy neoliberal brained nations do. Because pensions are a "burden", fiscal prudence etc.

DroneGPT is going to disrupt the "bombing wedding parties in the Global South" space, just you wait and see!

Edit: remember this the next time you half-ass clicking on a Captcha that says to select all squares containing Doctors Without Borders personnel obama-drone

Jesus the Russia paranoia is so fucking annoying, there must be some huge percentage of the population who genuinely believes he's directly taking orders from Putin.

[–] merthyr1831@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago

Yup. Just scrape the barrel immediately when war breaks out instead of wasting money on ""professional"" soldiers in the interim!!!

[–] blobjim@hexbear.net 32 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

All they do is drop bombs anyways. Why do they even have an army?

Mostly to occupy their "allies" countries to ensure their compliance, like Germany or Japan.

Going to be a bunch of nerds with 5 monitors, each showing a different drone they are piloting at the same time.

Hehehe... so they'll be advocating for early retirement of the oldest, pressuring the "broke Dicks" to accept medical discharges, but I wonder if it will mean lower recruiting quotas?

Regardless I'm thinking it will mean a more "green" force that's going to be really heavy on the intelligence analysis and drone operator side.
