I would like to move my website's domains and hosting to Canadian businesses. Can any of you recommend Canadian companies who can do the job? Simple sites, homepages, etc.

Host and registrar do not need to be the same business.

Thank you!

I’ve been using StormWeb (https://stormweb.ca/) for years. Solid service. Prices recently increased so I’m not sure how competitive they are.

Why do you recommend them?

Here's a great company! Peaceworks Technology Solutions

  • Living Wage Certified
  • B Corp Certified

For registration of dot-ca domains in particular, I have always used CanSpace.ca. They seem to have the lowest prices of any Canadian registrar.

If I didn’t care about providence, I would likely suggest NameSilo or Porkbun, but I prefer to keep my dot-ca domains at a strictly Canadian registrar.

And while I self-host, they also seem to have decent entry-level prices if you’re not overly worried about putting all your eggs into one basket (despite this being a Not Good thing).

If you want to remain resilient against issues with any one provider, split up name registration, DNS, and hosting from each other. That way, if one kills the services you are using, switching to another provider will be much easier. If you plan to set up an eMail server, also consider splitting that up into a separate hosting provider or service provider.

If you plan to set up everything yourself, avoid the $$$ hosting panels like WHM/cPanel. Yes, that particular one is very good, but its price has spiked by a ridiculous amount in the last few years, and IMO it isn’t worth it anymore. There are other control panels that are much lower cost or even no cost that get you almost as far (ease of use + power).

I use namesilo for my stuff because they’re one of the best and I’m not playing politics with my domains. I do my own hosting on racknerd for the same reasons.

We just switched lemmy and our fedecan domains over to canspace and I'm impressed so far. Nice ui if a little slow sometime, but support was quick and effective.

I also use canspace.ca for my personal and small business. Our only issue is that they have occasionally (due to their low cost) been used as a place to launch spam -- by other customers -- is sometimes our email gets lumped into an IP block or something. Other than that, it works reasonably well.

I've used hosterbox.com for years. Been happy with them.

I've had a managed Wordpress website with WHC.ca for many years. They have very quick customer service, too.

You can register a domain through them as well, and their servers are in Canada.

I just found out about this site: https://hostingcanada.org/

This may be a good place to start your research?

They are very stable, very little to no outages. The pricing is fair and their customer service is top notch. Responsibe, fast and knowledgeable. They even help you set everything up if you aren’t unsure.
