That's quite a strong endorsement for Signal.

The irony. I believe this tweet gave Signal a huge international boost.

[–] Emerald@lemmy.world 20 points 4 days ago

Yeah, so much traffic it actually crashed the servers for a little bit

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 27 points 4 days ago (4 children)

Meanwhile, Mike Pence still hanging around on Facebook.

Whatever happened to that guy anyway?

[–] iowagneiss@midwest.social 38 points 4 days ago (1 children)

He has a very low bar by most of the developed world's standards, but he refused to lower it further for maga, so he's history now.

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago (1 children)

He was a conservative, not a MAGA supporter in my opinion. At the end of the day I have to see it as conservatives have ideals that do not align with mine, but MAGA is a group that believes that their ideals matter more than the people's freedoms. They believe tearing apart a representative democracy is fine, so long as their ideology prospers at the moment, but it is VERY short sighted as their ideology isn't why the leaders of MAGA is reforming it. Once they have reformed it the conservatives who supported MAGA will no longer have much say in anything, their votes won't matter. The oligarchs will decide what size rations they/we deserve, and we all know those rations are shrinking and shrinking.

Mike Pence still hanging around

Man Trump supporters won't quit huh?

[–] Ulrich@feddit.org 12 points 4 days ago

He suffered the same fate that any Republican will who stops kissing Trump's feet. Pence is a fucking nutbag but even he refused to stand behind Trump's shitfuckery at the end. Now he's been ostracized.

Great, free publicity for Signal!

[–] Andromxda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 22 points 4 days ago

That's what I thought when I first saw this

[–] TomMasz@lemmy.world 141 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Free Speech Absolutist 🤣

[–] SkavarSharraddas@gehirneimer.de 38 points 4 days ago

He meant "free speech abolitionist", easy typo to make.

[–] davel@lemmy.ml 58 points 4 days ago

He says he wants free speech, but all he ever wanted was to replace the previous censorship and propaganda regime with his own.

They fear open source software because it is one of the only thing that threatens their technofascist hegemony.

This only further proves that we are investing in platforms that are chipping away at them.

but for real, who is still using x? i thought it was just a bunch of mouth breather magas at this point.

[–] Rob1992@lemmy.world 21 points 4 days ago

The people who unfortunately have to get government updates from the place. After Facebook became a pain, Twitter became (for a while, when you didn't have to log in) a pretty decent way to update people on things like roadworks or weather warnings.

[–] WhatSay@slrpnk.net 14 points 4 days ago

Oddly, many reporters still do

He only cares about free speech when he can control what and whom it is flooded to. If you disagree with him, it will get automatically prioritized for the trash heap and chances are his critics will have worked it out of their system to bother complaining somewhere else, giving him a two for one. That sounds more like free advertisement for Signal

"Our product is banned on twitter!"

Didn't the MAGA insurrection use Signal to coordinate their efforts?

Wait wait........yes, follow dear leader to an app that keeps your history and doesn't encrypt at rest. You have nothing to hide and nothing to fear.

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 47 points 4 days ago

No, they used Telegram because they're idiots and don't understand privacy.

[–] resetbypeer@lemmy.world 27 points 4 days ago

Free speech absolution guy who promotrd Signal not that long ago, only likes free speech (and most likely only signal) for me but not for thee

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 12 points 3 days ago

[–] liquidthex@reddthat.com 21 points 4 days ago
