They pick 'em smart for the GOP top positions.

I thought I recall this is only half of the image, Marco saying heeant to say according to Germam Dam, assuming it's the usual errors we make when not proofreading as usual.

Or he could have been lying about that.

Digging deeper I guess we can tell if it's true or not based on how much he tweets about Venezuela or Germany more, or what type of power he posts about more?

Follow up tweet here: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/marco-rubio-german-dam/ I’m not fully convinced, “explosion at the…” vs “according to…” seems more than just a typo to me.

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah, seems more like damage control than a typo.

It completely changes the sentence.

Lie lie lie lie lie. GOP Politicians are physically incapable of admitting their wrong. Caught on tape lying? That was out of context, even though you have the entire tape. One of your stooges gets caught commiting a crime? I never even knew that person, despite you having multiple photo albums of us at different parties together.

The only way you can tell one of them is telling the truth is if they apologize. Everything else is a lie.

Why would we give the benifit of doubt to him? Have you been asleep for the last decade?

the is the internet, not the usa honey

People should have a passing knowledge of the major political parties in major nations. I don't know all the political figures in say Germany but I know if someone is an AfD member I should ignore what they have to say. Just because you don't live in a country doesn't mean you should be ignorant about how their government works, unless you like listening to propagandists with an exotic flair

I mean, to be fair, who'd expect a guy to be named German Dam?

[–] stevedidWHAT@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

People who understand the world exists outside of the westernized states

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's still a western name as in European, so I guess you mean outside the Anglo-sphere.

[–] stevedidWHAT@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah! Those words

[–] SomeoneElse@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I wouldn’t expect to find a german dam in Venezuela either.

German (or, more correctly, Germán) is a rather common name among Spanish-speaking people. Its origin is the visigoth past in Spain and comes from Hermann.

TIL, thanks!

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 year ago

To be fair, aren't politicians supposed to do their research before spewing out bullcrap?
